Hi, I installed the .rpm file from Guru's RPM site, installed it via YaST, but how do I run the program? I typed in 'ksmoothdock' in the terminal, but it didn't work. Please help.. Thanks, Derek R. Tech Support Manager www.stun1.com

According to http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=6585 (if when you run "ksmoothdock", nothing happens, then it is likely that your KDE dir is not standard. In this case, either: - cd to the directory ksmoothdock-3.5.1/ksmoothdock, then run "./ksmoothdock", or - Re-do the above sequence (./configure ...), but instead of "./configure", type: ./configure --prefix=/YOUR_KDE_DIR ) So, for the RPM, you need to find out where ksmoothdock binary is and execute it from there? -- Alvin
Ok. I will try that. Thanks, Derek R. A big fat WTF to you sir. Just because I am Tech Support Manager doesn't mean that I am an expert Linux user. So if you have constructive to say, say it. Otherwise don't say anything at all. Derek R. <snip> Sorry bout the direct email to you Derek, and even sorrier I can't help w/ your problem, I just haven't encountered it. I did however take a look at your website. It's most interesting. Have you any idea what the cost is going to be ? Looking at small business solutions in the long run as we have small group of consultants, who all do NOT make gajillions , in spite of reports to the contrary, and most of what we do get goes either into education or the company to keep it going. And the information on your site looks as if it might be promising, unless you need to be a Fortune 500 company, or at least knocking on that door. ( I doubt I shall live long enough to see this group even come close to the latter.. but hey, that isn't why we do what we do ... ;^) ) -- j I'm putting on the B-mer Brothers Would you mind putting on this grass skirt? You see it's Aloha Friday and I've got me this shirt (song lyric)

did i say so? but because of the fact that you are tech support manager, you should be aware of at least one of the following facts: - how support questions are asked (or do yuo like the users who call and say nothing but "the internet won't print, fix it", then hang up?) - that software usually comes with docs that are supposed to be read. you should at least have checked some instructions on the website for that tool you try to use. as well, you should have told where you got the rpm package. as well, you should have checked if the package in question is even for whichever linux distribution you try to install it on. none of the people here is in possession of a magic crystal ball to figure out what kind of installation you run. besides, TOFU is generally frowned upon, especially in combination with fullquotes. (tofu = text on top, full quote below) bye, MH
