kde media daemon really gets on my nerves.
Hi, this kde media notifier daemon really gets on my nerves. I'm running 10.0 + build tree kde here, and every time i insert an optical media, or connect an external storage like usb stick or usb harddick, i get BOTH the kde notifier asking me how i want to hable the insertion of an unmounted removable media, AND a konqueror window with the contents of it. looks like subfs / hald automounting is confusing it. any ideas for me? bye, MH -- gpg key fingerprint: 5F64 4C92 9B77 DE37 D184 C5F9 B013 44E7 27BD 763C

Mathias, This was one of the reasons I moved to 10.1. There were some other problems corrected as well, so I'm not sure that updating your KDE might not help, if you haven't done so yet. I just dealt with this problem while using 10.0, so not really sure if there is anything you can do to correct it other than change your settings to not pop up the requesters you get. The bad thing about that is the auto-mounting wouldn't be immediately evident to the user. Had I known about the other problems in 10.1, I'm not sure I would have bothered updating, but for myself, the things it fixed, improved upon has in a small part made up for some of the bad things in 10.1. regards, Lee

Wrongly configured?

There is suseplugger, which apparently was configured to open the device and seperate from that there is the KDE-media-daemon, which tells you about the new device. So you can disable both or just one of them and you should be fine. Sven
On one of these you have the option of allways ignoring it in the future. Do this, and you will not be bothered by more than one. I think it is called "do nothing" or something like that . If you do this with the one handled by suse, you can change it's behaviour later by right-cliking an icon on the taskbar (do not remember which unfortunatly), or (at least in 10.1) you can change it in yast somewhere. Sorry I can not be more precise, but I have not got my own computer in front of me. On 7/31/06, Sven Burmeister < sven.burmeister@gmx.net> wrote:
