[opensuse-kde] FYI: 13.2 and 42.1 support will be dropped in most KDE: repositories, other reorganizations
Hello, in an effort to save build power and reorganize repositories where it makes sense, we're removing support for 13.2 in the KDE: repositories. This is due to the fact that 13.2 is now EOL'd and the base system is so old that it's difficult to get new dependencies there. For a similar reason we're removing support for Leap 42.1 from KDE:Applications and KDE:Frameworks5 (and the :Unstable equivalents). The same caveats apply there. 42.1 users will still be able to use the LTS variants of Plasma and Frameworks at KDE:Frameworks5:LTS. Support for 42.1 will remain in KDE:Extra, because the dependencies are less strict there. Lastly, KDE:Applications for Leap 42.2 will be adjusted in a way that it will *require* KDE:Frameworks5 to be present. The reasoning is that otherwise it will be impossible to build some parts of the stack (PIM in particular) with the 42.2 base. These changes will go into effect this weekend. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Part of the changes has taken effect: 1. 13.2 and 42.1 are no longer offered for KDE:* repositories 2. Users of KDE:Applications with Leap 42.2 *MUST* now add KDE:Frameworks5 and use the KDE_Frameworks5_openSUSE_Leap_42.2 repository of KDE:Applications. 3. Leap 42.1 was removed from KDE:Unstable:* I'll go over KDE:Extra later tomorrow to clean up more repositories (13.1 and 13.2 mainly). Which QT do i need for these on 42.2? and the KDE:Applications KDE_Frameworks5_openSUSE_Leap_42 isn't available (yet). That being said, a KDE_Frameworks5_openSUSE_Leap_42 repo in KDE:Extras would be nice... cheers Mathias -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

You need KDE:Qt5 for the KDE:Frameworks5 repo, see https://en.opensuse.org/ SDB:KDE_repositories which did not change due to the recent changes. (If you want to double check that the information there is correct you can have a look at the Meta tab of the KDE:Frameworks5 repo in OBS which is a bit technical but quite self-explanatory IMHO -> https://build.opensuse.org/ project/meta/KDE:Frameworks5 .... <repository name="openSUSE_Leap_42.2" rebuild="direct" block="local"> <path project="KDE:Qt5" repository="openSUSE_Leap_42.2"/> <arch>x86_64</arch> </repository> .... I enabled publishing earlier this morning, so it should be available soon. Note, KDE PIM is still not present as it needs adjustments due to some packages in the base distro being too old. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: A29D259B

Correct me if I'm wrong, but: that means if I enable and update from this new repo I will have a broken system, because akonadi-server will be replaced by a newer (16.12) version however kmail5 stays on version 16.08. I'm a (heavy) kmail user and when I tried this update I had to undo the update in yast to fix this. IMHO this repo enablement was a little bit early. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

what it actually means right now is that because of one package in K:F5 not building for 42.2 (gpgmepp) you will end up with either a horrible mixup that will break all kind of things in all kind of ways, or with pretty much all of KDEPIM uninstalled due to missing dependencies that can't be filled anymore. Note that such messages aren't helpful in fixing the issue faster, in fact they do not help at all. In fact, they're pretty demotivating. My time for this is pretty limited, and these things reduce even more the willingness to spend what I have. The build failure is (to me) unexplainable because the exact same package builds for Leap in other repositories and I haven't found a solution / reason for it yet. -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team GPG key ID: A29D259B -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

it fails to build because the build fails to start a gpg agent to verify keys. I don't know what to do about it either... I've branched the package, if I can figure something out I'll send you a push for it. Doesn't really help that googling for "buildservice gpg" results in thousands of results talking about gpg keys of obs repos... Hi Luca, I realize you mostly must hear complaints. However for seasoned people like myself (read as: old farts), we understand there's a lot of work that goes into making things run smoothly. With that thank you for the hard work! I agree that we should do this. There are problems with using KDE:Applications on 42.2 currently. I am aware of these: - digikam crashes with the newer marble if trying to use the geolocation features (and as the crash is in libmarbleqidget, it likely affects other applications that use libKF5KGeoMap5 as well, like kphotoalbum) - kipi-plugins don't work with the newer libkipi (there are even bug reports for both issues) Also, calibre is uninstallable with the newer Qt5, as it uses private headers. So maybe we should add a link to KDE:Extra too then (for 42.2)...
