[opensuse-kde] mixed versions of kdebase4-* packages in KDE:Current for oS 12.3
Hi, I just noticed that I have a mixture of 4.11 ands 4.12 versions in my KDE packages. $ rpm -qa | grep kde | grep 4.11 libproxy1-config-kde4-0.4.11-2.1.1.x86_64 kdeartwork4-sounds-4.11.2-5.1.noarch flash-player-kde4-11.2.202.350-2.68.1.x86_64 kdebase4-workspace-4.11.8-3.1.x86_64 kdebase4-workspace-plasma-calendar-4.11.8-3.1.x86_64 python-kdebase4-4.11.8-3.1.x86_64 kdebase4-workspace-ksysguardd-4.11.8-3.1.x86_64 kdebase4-workspace-liboxygenstyle-4.11.8-3.1.x86_64 kde4-kgreeter-plugins-4.11.8-3.1.x86_64 whereas most of the other are KDE 4.12 as expected, e.g. $ rpm -qa | grep kdebase4 | grep 4.12 kdebase4-nsplugin-4.12.4-1.2.x86_64 kdebase4-wallpaper-default-4.12.4-1.1.noarch kdebase4-wallpapers-4.12.4-1.1.noarch kdebase4-artwork-4.12.4-1.1.noarch kdebase4-session-4.12-1.1.noarch kdebase4-libkonq-4.12.4-1.2.x86_64 kdebase4-runtime-4.12.4-1.2.x86_64 opensuse is $ lsb_release -a LSB Version: n/a Distributor ID: openSUSE project Description: openSUSE 12.3 (x86_64) Release: 12.3 Codename: Dartmouth my repositories are KDE:Current URL: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Current/openSUSE_12.3/ KDE:Extra/Current URL: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Extra/KDE_Current_openSUSE_12... and there are 4.11-packages in the repository, so I don't think this is a local problem, e.g: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Current/openSUSE_12.3/x86_64/... Is this intended? Maybe I should notice that I do not have noticed any problems, the system runs fine so far. The workspace part of KDE software (the packages you have at 4.11.x) has no new major releases as it's been put into long term support mode. Did you do an update to KDE:Current using zypper dup? -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79

KDE Upstream has frozen the kde-workspace package (which delivers the kdebase4-workspace, kwin, kdm and kgreeter packages) after the KDE 4.11 release and moved it to Long Time Support. This means that we will get bugfixes supplies, but this will be with 4.11.x versions. So KDE 4.13 will also come with kdebase4-workspace 4.11.x, etc. This allows the plasma developers to work on KDE Frameworks 5 and to build the new functionality there.
Is this intended? Yes.

Ah, good to know.
flash-player-kde4-11.2.202.350-2.68.1.x86_64 Not a KDE SC package and the version is 11.2
Sorry for that, I forgot to filter the list for KDE stuff.
