[opensuse-kde] Firefox KDE integration
Hello, as mentioned in the meeting minutes, the home:llunak:mozilla repo now has Firefox version with some KDE integration. It is otherwise the Firefox version from mozilla:Factory, i.e. what will be in 11.2, and the changes will be pushed back. The boring (and somewhat old) demo is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pyp5bX_NV6k , but it's of course much better to see it with your own eyes ;). http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/FirefoxIntegration has a page listing all the integration points, if you want to help testing, please check those. For any bugs[*], please report them to bugzilla and assign to me (llunak@novell.com). Make sure you have the two -kde4 packages installed, if the publishes packages get out of sync, they may be removed because of dependencies. Also, there is currently a rebuild running with the latest version[**], so please be specific with version numbers when reporting problems. [*] Bugs related to the KDE integration, of course. Also, at least somewhat serious problems - if a pixel is a bit off, I don't give a damn. Thanks. [**] So it might be simpler to download the latest packages directly from the buildservice pages for the repository. -- Lubos Lunak KDE developer -------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. e-mail: l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org Lihovarska 1060/12 tel: +420 284 084 672 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I just have a couple of question to clarify. How up-to-date will this "version" of FireFox be? If I got the FireFox from the Mozilla repo on the OBS, I won't get the KDE integration?

I don't see it in the wiki list, but will the print dialog be KDE, too? Anyways, thanks for the cool work! Cordially, Dariel Dato-on -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

The changes and additions are planned to be in 11.2. Once initial testing and review is done for Factory it will land there and after some baking time it will also be merged to the mozilla repository which is almost always in complete sync with Factory. The plan is to merge it back to that repo.

Unlikely. I haven't even checked yet, but I think it would be too much work for too little gain (since I don't find the KDE4 printing dialog noticeably better than the Firefox one). This should be seen as fixing things that are wrong (GNOME default apps in KDE) rather than making it all KDE at all costs. -- Lubos Lunak KDE developer -------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. e-mail: l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org Lihovarska 1060/12 tel: +420 284 084 672 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

OK, upgraded with zypper after adding your repo and added mozilla-xulrunner191-kde4 afterwards. Why isn't this a package requirement? And what about the other indicated -kde4 package? -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I see. I forgot to enable debuginfo packages, it is rebuilding now.

The part about it still rebuilding and possibly getting out of sync. I suggest you try again somewhen later when both the -kde4 packages can be installed without conflicts. -- Lubos Lunak KDE developer -------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s.r.o. e-mail: l.lunak@suse.cz , l.lunak@kde.org Lihovarska 1060/12 tel: +420 284 084 672 190 00 Prague 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

It is running now, zypper dup from repo, but w/o the second -kde4 package which is still not available. 11.2/m6 x86_64 -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

There are now some hints on the wiki-page (http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/FirefoxIntegration). It works here on a 11.1 x64 install with KDE4:Factory, i.e. 4.3.1. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
