RE: [suse-kde] KDE 3.3 won't show fresh files
Any idea which update so I don't apply it ;) KDE updates have frustrated me since 9.0. The one that gets me all fired up is with kde 3.2.1 in 9.1. The menu editor was broken by a security patch made available in YOU. I was flat out told that it wouldn't be fixed and I would need to upgrade to 3.3 (unsupported of course) or leave the out of the box, pre-patched version of KDE from 9.1. If the bug below was as a result of patches, I think I'll hold off ever patching KDE unless it really is a nasty security fix. I know a great deal of these bugs are brought in up-stream, however, when someone buys the box set, and it works perfect out of the box, its extremely frustrating when a patch breaks something. -----Original Message----- From: Andrew Colvin [mailto:apc@abcj.demon.co.uk] Sent: Wednesday, November 10, 2004 3:02 AM To: suse-kde@suse.com Subject: Re: [suse-kde] KDE 3.3 won't show fresh files This is also happening for me since the a few updates ago. It was within the last month - I guess from 13 October. The Question has to be are others seeing this or is it some peculiar setup that some of us have. I have SuSe 8.2 and additionally I have also been losing icon positions on the desktop too! Andrew On Wednesday 10 Nov 2004 13:24, burgeke@HQ.VerizonWireless.com wrote:

losing icon positions has to do w/ teh Suse Watcher in 8.2 and posibley 9.0 ( sorry I don't recall the details but it was a big deal at the time. IF you can get to the Suse.de website and search on the suse-liux-e archives you should find the solution to that problem at least. Reletively painless as I recall.) Hope this helps some. The Suse-linux-e list has a lot of these problems archived ... Especially anything for 8.2 thru the 9.1 -- j -- nemo me impune lacessit
Sorry I can't speak for the refresh of new files displayed in the folders, but concerning losing icon positions, I had this problem too. I simply changed the DisplaySize in /etc/X11/XF86Config from 380 300 to 380 305 (1280x1024 resolution). Since this change (restart X) I haven't lost an icon position on the grid. Hope this helps. /Carl On Wednesday 10 November 2004 12:08, Andrew Colvin wrote:
