[opensuse-kde] Pager appearance
Hello SuSE people Running 12.2 with KDE4.9 I run 4 virtual desktops that appear in the pager on my task bar. I am severely sight impaired and I cannot see the pager very well to choose my deskttop because of it;s grey color. Is there some way to modify that icon? Make it green or yellow or something? U remember years ago that there was a utility/program ? that you coild nodify or even make new icons. Anything out there like that yet? Bob S Hi, not really what you ask for.
I start one Virtual desktop with the script #!/usr/bin/csh VirtualBox --startvm your_vbox_name & The script is in my bin directory. I start it with the kde kicker. In kde-kicker a right click allows to add your script to the menu and to define an icon there. Maybe that helps. The pager's appearance is part of the overall Plasma theme; we currently ship the upstream Air default theme, but you can choose a different theme it in the Desktop Theme system settings page, after installing any of the alternative plasma-theme-* packages in OBS, or using the Get New Themes button there in Desktop Theme. I can't find an explicitly-labeled Accessible or High Contrast theme on kde- look.org, but there are a lot of themes there, perhaps one will suit.

You can also create your own theme or modify an existing one. Here is a howto document: http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tutorials/Plasma/Theme If you just want to clobber the existing default pager SVG, it is here: /usr/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme/default/widgets/pager.svgz Bear in mind though that the default theme's widgets are pretty complex; each of the 27 elements required for the pager widget is made from up to 4 components. If all you want to do is make it green on yellow I suggest you base on a simpler theme like Aya or Caledonia. It might also help to get the pager bigger by setting it to only use one row. I think it uses two by default. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Or even better, get rid of virtual desktops and use activities. the activities switcher is more button-ish and thus has more contrast. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Or don't use the pager at all, use keyboard shortcuts (Ctrl+F1/F2/F3 etc.) or the desktop grid effect (Ctrl+F8). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Forgot to mention - you can configure moving the mouse cursor to a screen edge/corner to trigger the desktop grid effect. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Bob S Hi Bob!
You can also combine[1] elements from different plasma themes, so you don't need to manually re-paint pager, or use a different theme.
