Problem upgrading KDE to 3.1.3
Here is what I get when I try to upgrade qt: gandalf:/home/bob/Documents/KdeUp/Core # rpm -Fvh --nodeps qt3-3.1.2-58.i586.rpm file /usr/share/doc/packages/qt3/html from install of qt3-3.1.2-58 conflicts with file from package qt3-devel-doc-3.0.5-64 gandalf:/home/bob/Documents/KdeUp/Core # rpm -Uvh --nodeps qt3-3.1.2-58.i586.rpm file /usr/share/doc/packages/qt3/html from install of qt3-3.1.2-58 conflicts with file from package qt3-devel-doc-3.0.5-64 I get similar messages trying to do other packages as well. What do I need to do about it?
You need qt3-devel-3.1.2-58.i586.rpm too. Download all the required files to the same directory and run "rpm -Fvh *.rpm" This will only freshen packages that are already installed. If you are also updateing KDE you should log off from KDE, go to runlevel 3 (init 3) and update KDE then. After that you should run /sbin/SuSEconfig. Then you can go back to runlevel 5 (init 5). I get similar messages trying to do other packages as well.
What am I doing wrong?
Don't use "-F" and --nodeps, it shouldn't be necessary...
What do I need to do about it? Are you actually using the documentation from qt3-devel-doc? maybe yes, but I assume you can live with them for some time =>
remove qt3-devel-doc, and try to install qt3 once more It won't "conflict" anymore with the removed package. Afterwards you can install the newer qt3-devel-doc pkg.... -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
