Hello does anybody know if there's a possibility that kmail does not delete marked e-mails automatically? Thanks, Mike

What do you mean? What are "marked e-mails"? I know of the following: - clicking on the "bin" icon imediately deletes the selected messages (they are lost) - hitting the "del" key puts the selected messages in the "trash" folder Now, what happens to the trash folder depends on your "settings/configure kmail/folders" settings. I chose to automagicaly empty "trash" on exit, but if you don't, your messages should stay in trash until you delete them. In the same, you can "expire old messages" automaticaly, so if you have old messages disapearing this could be the cause (you can have a warning in that cas). Hope this helps, Thierry -- "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former" - Albert Einstein

I'll try to say it in a different way.

At my kmail I got different folders for different mailing-lists. These folders are set up with the "expire old messages" feature in the following way. Read messages would be deleted after 4 weeks. Unread messages after 6 weeks. So far, everything is fine! Sometime I "mark a thread as important", because there are some very interesting informations in it. After 4 weeks this thread would be deleted by the "expire old messages" feature. Is it possible to delete expired mails, except those of marked threads? I hope it's more clear now. :-) Thanks, Mike

Yep! Unfortunately I found this on mail.kde.org:
What does "mark as important" do?
It sets the important status flag of the message which causes it to be displayed in a special way (flag, red, whatever) in most email clients. It does not protect from expiration.
So I'm afraid the answer to your question is no, and you should probably submit your desire directly to the kmail maintainer if you'd like this to become a feature. Thierry -- "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former" - Albert Einstein

Thanks for your answer! Bye, Mike
