[opensuse-kde] k9copy and kaffeine for openSUSE 11.2
I am assuming that this is the list where my 2 questions should be directed. If I am wrong then tell me to whom I should direct my question/s. I am running 32-bit openSUSE 11.2 RC2. Earlier today I updated my RC2 to be 'equivalent' to GM 11.2 which may be released next week. However- * the application *k9copy* is not in the list of available software for installation - in any shown repository; and * the copy of *kaffeine* does not contain the 'fix' for the problem which Christoph Pfister told me about on 18 October last that he had put through to the svn of kaffeine; the problem was about the AC3 audio stream that was not being correctly scanned for for some High Definition TV channels (and which he found after I provided him with some details). With the final version of openSUSE 11.2 scheduled for release next week (12 November), will the above 2 applications (k9copy and kaffeine) be available as properly working applications next week? It's a packman package - not an openSUSE one, never was. Packman will probably have it available for 11.2 soon.

Can't say anything about the particular patch. But it's almost certain new kaffeine betas will appear in the kde:backports repo as soon as they're released, so you shouldn't have to endure the problem very long. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

However-
* the application *k9copy* is not in the list of available software for installation - in any shown repository; and
k9copy has never been available from openSUSE repositories, only from Packman. Probably some legal worries seeing as it probably needs codecs/dvdcss/etc. If for some reason it has disappeared from packman take it up with them.
* the copy of *kaffeine* does not contain the 'fix' for the problem which Christoph Pfister told me about on 18 October last that he had put through to the svn of kaffeine; the problem was about the AC3 audio stream that was not being correctly scanned for for some High Definition TV channels (and which he found after I provided him with some details).
The version of kaffeine in openSUSE 11.2 is the released version (or in the case of kaffeine, the last released preview version). Fixes that have only been put into upstream svn recently are not going to be in the 11.2 version, packages are not based off svn checkouts. Unless you can put forward a very good argument (e.g. security bug, makes the application completely unusable) it is not likely that the patch will be specially backported. Especially when we have only less than one week left till release.
With the final version of openSUSE 11.2 scheduled for release next week (12 November), will the above 2 applications (k9copy and kaffeine) be available as properly working applications next week?
So no, there is no chance. Even ignoring the fact that your requests are invalid for other reasons, there's not much that can be done in a less than week ... coolo is already suggesting we be happy with build 347 (see https://features.opensuse.org/308284) and so that build will most likely become GM. you have to wait, vamps, libdvdplay and k9copy were in the queue from our PackMan-OBS, but it takes time to rebuild all PM stuff... Detlef -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
