[opensuse-kde] Kontact/Kmail 4.8.5 Bugs
Hi, I'm running openSUSE 12.2 - i586 with KDE 4.8.5; I think it's the last update, and I've detect the following bugs. 1 . The system tray icon displays the number of unread solicited messages, but the Menu "New Messages in ..", in that icon, displays ALL the folders that have unread messages, solicited OR NOT. The un/solicited mail it's controlled in the Folder Properties. In version 4.8.4 this worked ok : the number of solicited unread mails was displayed in the system tray icon ans ONLY the folders that had those mails appear in the "New Massages in ..." Menu. 2. After I started Kontact/Kmail, in the Configure Kmail->Composer->Configure Completion Order, the list of Address Books appear. If, after, I start to compose an e-mail, and I want the recipients e-mail/names to complete, this functionality doesn't work. If, after, I go to the Configure Kmail->Composer-
Configure Completion Order, the Address Books list doesn't appear. If, after, I quit Kontact/Kmail and I restart it from the console, it's doesn't run I I get the messages
"QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. " Any comments or help? Lívio Cipriano -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

This message is not specific to Kontact, I get it from other KDE applications too. Explain ‘It does not run.’ Chris -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Exactly what i said ... I type kontact in Konsole Terminal, the messages
"QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
are outputted to the terminal, and the Kontact window doesn't shows up. Can you check ~/.xsession-errors for messages related to KMail? -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79

Hi, 1. I started Kontact from a new KDE session 2. In the Configure Kmail->Composer->Configure Completion Order, the list of Address Books appears 3. I compose an e-mail, and I want the recipients e-mail/names to complete, this functionality start to work "randomly", meaning, ex., the emails of persons that their names start with "C" appear, but not those that start with "B". 4. I go to the Configure Kmail->Composer->Configure Completion Order, the Address Books list doesn't appear. 5. I quit from Kontact 6. I restart it from the console with the following commands lcipriano@venus:~> kontact lcipriano@venus:~> ps aux | grep kontact 1000 5461 8.8 5.1 228068 105032 ? Sl 11:15 1:51 /usr/bin/kontact so kontact it's running, but the windows doesn't shows up. 7. I start kmail, again from console and the following messages are outputted lcipriano@venus:~> kmail kmail2(6347)/kdepimlibs (mailtransport): Could not access Outbox. lcipriano@venus:~> lcipriano@venus:~> QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified QFSFileEngine::open: No file name specified it runs and it's from this kmail session that i'm writing this message. The xsession-errors it's appended. Regards Lívio

Third option, since I didn't see (from a quick glance) anything too suspicious: can you test this with a different (possibly fresh) user account? -- Luca Beltrame - KDE Forums team KDE Science supporter GPG key ID: 6E1A4E79

Maybe u have a point there. I remember that with openSUSE 12.1 I had similar problems and I had to restart nor with a new account but with a new KPIM instalation delating all akonadi files and, after, with a new virtuoso database. I'll try it. Lívio -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Hi, 1. I started Kontact from a new KDE session and fresh user account 2. i created 2 new contacts in a new Personal Contacts resource 3. In the Configure Kmail->Composer->Configure Completion Order, the list of Address Books appears 3. I compose an e-mail, and I want the recipients e-mail/names to complete but this functionality didn't worked 4. I restarted the Akonadi Server and the completion functionally started working, showing both contacts. 5. I return to may account and I started Kontact from a new KDE session 6. I open a new message compose and the following message appeared, as show in the annexed image 7. After some minutes, the message disappeared and this functionality start to work "randomly", meaning, ex., the emails of persons that their names start with "C" appear, but not those that start with "B". 8. I quit from Kontact 9. 10. I start kmail, again from console and the following messages are outputted lcipriano@venus:~> kmail kmail2(6347)/kdepimlibs (mailtransport): Could not access Outbox. it runs and it's from this kmail session that i'm writing this message. 11. I collected this messages from the Akonadi logs from akonadi_control.error and akonadia_control.error.old : void AgentManager::load() Reference to unknown agent type "akonadi_archivemail_agent" in agentsrc from akonadiaserver.error.old: Control process died, committing suicide! D-Bus session bus went down - quitting Regards Lívio

This one is not working in 4.8.x. I believe it is fixed in 4.9.x releases. Also you need to have Nepomuk enabled (in System Settings > Desktop Search) to use this feature.
so kontact it's running, but the windows doesn't shows up. 10. I start kmail, again from console and the following messages are outputted

Check the process list for kontact (CTRL+ESC). Maybe there is some process left hindering a new kontact to launch.

Since KDE4 works very well on old netbooks this cannot be the cause. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
