Thanks for the help. I had to uninstall kdegraphics3-extra in order to install kdegraphics3-viewer, it now works fine. Thomas Astleitner wrote:

Yes, it is working fine here, only problem is after rotating the picture and save it, the perspective (length vs width) did not rotate and the picture before out of proportion :( Dennis

I noticed the other day (in apt4suse) that there was a newer kdegraphics3-extra (3.1-91) which doesn't include kuickshow. (it conflicts w/ (obsoletes) kdegraphics3-viewer 3.1-71) In order to have kuickshow you need to stick with kdegraphics3-viewer 3.1-71 and kdegraphics3-extra 3.1-71 for now. BTW is pixieplus going to be coming back or is it history? -- dh Don't shop at GoogleGear.com!

------------------------ Hi David, Yes, the newer builds removes kuickshow and gives us KView to replace it with more features. Nice new viewer, but one needs to change the file associations in Konq to get kmail to use it correctly. There is a new version of pixieplus out, now that you mention it, but it also requires a newer version of ImageMagick as well. I haven't compiled them yet, but am anxious to see the new version as I am sure he is developing it actively again, adding new features and putting some back he had taken out. Patrick --- KMail v1.5 --- SuSE Linux Pro v8.1 --- Registered Linux User #225206 On any other day, that might seem strange...

Guess I'll give it another try ;-)

I just compiled ImageMagick, had to use the "./configure --enable-lzw --with-x --with-windows-font-dir=/usr/share/fonts/msfonts --enable-shared" options to get it to install with checkinstall. Basic functionality seems to be there but when I tried make check I recieved messages that most things had failed we'll see. More disturbing is that it upsets my apt upgrade process. I'm just starting on this process so I'll let you know what happens. -- dh Don't shop at GoogleGear.com!

I tried the new kview but don't like it. If I used it as an embeded viewer I kept getting messages about not being able to find some lib, then it would show me the image anyway. It also "seems" slower than kuickveiw. Both programs (kview and kuickshow) are available in the 3.1-71 series so I can use whichever is appropriate at the time

Well ImageMagick compiles adaquately with the above configure options and seemed to work fine as display and for processing but alot (8 or 9) of other rpm packages were broken (at least when I used checkinstall to create and install it). Most of them were looking for libMagick.so.5 which the new package didn't install (I found no libMagick* in /usr/lib so it appears to remove the existing lib). I eventually downgraded to the most recent stable versions. Granted I have very little experience troubleshooting compile problems or building rpm's (yet). Just thought I'd pass along my experences. -- dh Don't shop at GoogleGear.com!
