kioslave audiocd ?

Hello! When trying to access an audiocd with konqueror I had to see this error message (translated from German): ... The file or directory / does not exist. So I looked at my devicefiles permissions, but they are set to be owned by my user. (/dev/cdrecorder, /dev/cdrom, both linked to /dev/sr0). /dev/sg0 has user root and group disk so I added my users to group disk. After that Konqueror tries to access the CD for some minutes now but the CDROM-drive doesn't do anything. I don' get any messages when starting from konsole with '/opt/kde3/bin/konqueror audiocd:/' except the konqueror's one. Listening to the CD with KsCD works fine. I tried to access audiocd:/ as root and was able to acces the directories shown in konqueror (I thought there should be mp3s somewhere?!). But when trying to view the CD's root dir konqueror crashes with a SIGSEV: (no debugging symbols found)...(no debugging symbols found)... ... APM in SuSE8.1

Hi all! I've used "apm -s" to suspend my laptop. After upgrading from SuSE8.0 to SuSE8.1 it does not work anymore. I get "No APM support in kernel". Can anyone tell me what I have to do to get it to work again? KMail: why "%i, %m"?

Hi everybody, When browsing with Konqueror, if I click on a URL to send someone e-mail, the KMail window pops up, but contains "%i, %m" in the To: field instead of user(a)foo.com as I would have expected. How to convert from Sylpheed to KMail

G'day all. I had to use Sylpheed for a while, but now I'm back to KMail. KMail reports the number of files in each of my ~/Mail sub-folders, but shows only the messages that have arrived since the switch back to KMail. All the Sylpheed messages are not available -- not listed in the main message-summary window. So, for instance, my suse-linux-e folder says that it contains 20,000 messages, but it will only list and display the few hundred that have arrived since I resumed using KMail. Anybody know how to change the format of all those Sylpheeded messages into something KMail-friendly? There's a tool that comes with Sylpheed to convert KMail to Sylpheed, but I need to go the other way. Has anyone done this? /kevin

Liebe SuSE-KDE-lers, I'm trying to cut down on mail traffic (filtered or not) and though I've not read Usenet news for years I've found what looks like a good kde group (there's also a .de version). It's not SuSE specific, but then it seems most KDE questions/answers are not SuSE-specific either and the group looks good to me info-wise. So many thanks to all who've help me here (patient answers to dumb and not-so-dumb questions are always appreciated) - may your good deeds be thrice rewarded. BTW - I'm trying out KNode (cute icon - tux reading newspaper). If you want a graphica newsreader and like KMail, then you'll probably like KNode. mail crash

kde printing problem

Hello, I have a kde printing problem. I use KDE 3.0.4 with SUSE 8.0 Linux system. As printing system I have installed the standard LPD printing system. Also some printers are configured probablly. Now , whem I try to Print an dokument (e.g. with Kmail ) on more than one page it happens, that the last line is divided horizontal. I also printed into a PS-file. Than it's the same. I changed some settings of the printers, but the problem doesn't disappear. Is there an hint for this problem Best regards Heribert

different desktops desktop icons

I know I could make different users, but still: is it possible to have different desktops for one user at say: desktop 1 (office icons); desktop 2: work whatever..; desktop 3 completely empty? Now that would be progress! piet

Okay, I only guessed, your package could be from SuSE 8.1 but for sure it is build for a system which is using gcc 3.x I would suggest, that you better use only packages which are built for SuSE 8.0 for sure. You can try packages build for SuSE 7.3, 7.2 or 7.0, too. There are chances, that it will work, too. After some time, you will see what suits better for you: Using packages from systems that could be similar to SuSE 8.0 or to build your software from the sources. I would suggest the second choice. You can go to the lineak homepage to get sources or perhaps other RPM's. There you may find binary RPM's that suits better for SuSE 8.0 http://lineak.sourceforge.net/ Greets, Daniel P.S.: Google is your best friend to find Project Homepages or other RPM's.
