[opensuse-kde3] kbear doesn't connect
Hello SuSE users, Running 11.3 with kDE3.5 Needed an ftp client. Downloaded and installed Kbear. Seems to have installed OK but it will not connect to any ftp site. Brings up a simple short message stating it could not connect to (whatever the site name is) No logging that I know of. Anybody else using Kbear and working for them? Connects well for me to ftp.kde.org and ftp.kernel.org: http://storage4.static.itmages.ru/i/11/0521/h_1305932519_061ab8ae8e.png -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

Did you select the anonymous access checkbox? Does ftp work from Konqueror? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

Did you select the anonymous access checkbox?
yes
Does ftp work from Konqueror?
Didn't try Konq but I have had another FTP program for years that works perfectly. I would continue to use that except the fonts are now to small for me. (sight impaired) I can make kbear fonts big enough for me to see. Is there any output in the log window and in the console when you cannot connect? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

Ilya, Nothing in the log for the "anonymous" sites, but, I had to create a personal site for a webpage I maintain. My ISP requires a user name and a passsword to log on and I do get a message in the log for that. It states, 220 SANCTUM.COM FTP server (I0A-IPAD 8.0) ready at May 23 21:17:54 2011 Open www.hiddenkake.net 500 unknown command "open www.hiddenlake.net" I consulted the Kbear manual and it states that there are 6 scipts (macros?) tp connect to the server (firewall?) and one "special" where you must make your own maceo. I've tried them all and cannot connect with any of them, getting a slightly different message each time in the log. I cannot figure out the instructions in the manual for making the special macro. What is a fwuser or fwpassword? Bob S -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

Does console utility ftp work for you? Can you give a screenshot of kbear just after failed attempt? Does connecting with konqueror work? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org

What is "sanctum.com FTP server"? Did you connect to it previously? Does it appear always? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+help@opensuse.org
