[opensuse-kde3] Latest okular on TW?
Hi, I know that some people are using KDE3 on TW. Recently okular on TW has been updatet to v1.0.0 (build 16.12.0). For me this updated version lost usefull tools in file save dialog. Previous version (0.26, build 16.8.0) worked correctly. There was "settings" icon in file save dialog and there one could enable "show bookmars", so he/she could bookmark frequently used directories and quickly select them later. In my setup it was lost with new version. I asked on factory list and got an answer, that new okular "was ported to KDE Framework 5 and uses KF5 file dialog instead of kde4 one". Somebody else sees this problem? Maybe there is something I need to install additionally? I initially did not install plasma5, just xfce and then kde3. But later I've added some kde5 applications (like okular, digikam) that pulled quite a lot of plasma5 packages.. Could you simply install build 16.08.0 from 42.2? http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.2/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/oku... Gianluca On Sun, 8 Jan 2017, Mark Goldstein wrote:

Could you simply install build 16.08.0 from 42.2?
http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.2/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/oku...
Thank you for suggestion. I thought about it and even downloaded the RPMs for all distributions I'm using (13.1, 42.1 and 42.2) already, will try later today. But this means I can't update it any further. I'm trying to understand what is actually used and whether it is possible to get the functionality back. Otherwise it could be a warning that some other applications may not work properly under KDE3. It should not be like that, I believe. From your description, it sounds like it has nothing to do with KDE3 but with the fact that okular was migrated to "KDE Framework 5" as you describe and thus "stripped" of features? At least, this is what I understand from your original e-mail.
I think you can still update, but every time you might have to downgrade okular, unless you convince the developers to add back the features that you miss. Best, Gianluca On Mon, 9 Jan 2017, Mark Goldstein wrote:

Yes, but on plasma5 they see "file save" dialog with all correct buttons and options. Functionality is not removed, something is messed up in my setup. Looks like it was linked to some wrong shared library or something of that sort. That is, instead of using actual KF5 library it is using something other (from KDE3?). Once you have a version of anything that works installed, as root do zypper al <packagename> and updating will leave it and its dependencies as installed when the lock is set. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Yep, as expected version from 42.2 works fine (though zypper complained there is no libqmobipocket library. I'll probably pull it also from 42.2). But the question stays: what is wrong with advanced version? One day they'll update 42.2 as well. Felix, if I "protect" the working version with lock, I will not be able to try updated version, right? OK, I've got explanation from Wolfgang Bauer on factory list. QT5 uses its oun file dialog trying to adjust it to desktop. To cause it using KDE file dialog, the plasma5-integration-plugin should be installed and since I did not install plasma5 pattern, the plugin was not installed. After installing it. I have all functionality back, BR, -- Mark Goldstein -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

Until you remove the lock: zypper rl <protectedpackage> -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Proverbs 16:21 (New Living Translation) Team OS/2 ** Reg. Until you remove the lock:
zypper rl <protectedpackage>
Sure, thanks. Now I've got "back" to new version and it works OK. Not a bad idea to have Qt5 adapting itself to the desktop. Probably before I installed plugin, it tried to use some gnome/xfce file dialog.
