Hi, some of you might have realised in [1] that there formed a (still) little team of people that works to make the connection between the Invis Server [2] and openSUSE more tight and finally release an openSUSE Invis Server as an openSUSE derivate with own isos etc. The Invis Server is an already existing solution, running in productive environments in the world on top of openSUSE. The core developer, Stefan Schäfer, is part and initiator of the openSUSE Invis Team. Our current plan is to first identify the packages that are needed for Invis Server and push them to Factory as they fit. For others, we'd like to create a repo in OBS to maintain these there. I have two concrete calls for help: 1. Mighty people of the server project in the OBS, please create a subproject server server:Invis where we can put packages. I guess thats the right place? 2. we would appreciate help, especially of packagers. If you are interested to make openSUSE Invis Server happen, please join the opensuse-invis@opensuse.org mailinglist. thanks, Klaas [1] http://lizards.opensuse.org/2010/10/28/a-new-flavor-opensuse-invis-server/ [2] http://www.invis-server.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-invis+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-invis+help@opensuse.org

I haven't seen much of Invis yet but the project sounds interesting.

I joined that least some time ago and it actually shows some life now ;-) I'll follow here and see if I can help with things. During the last years I set up some servers for friends for home- or small office doing something similar and I'd be interested to have something almost ready made. The topic brings me back to one of my recent initiative to try getting some sort of long term supported openSUSE release in place. http://www.rosenauer.org/blog/2010/11/30/community-powered-long-term-support... I'm wondering if something like that would also be very interesting for invis-server users? (You guys here probably notice that I'm searching for help to make this happen ;-) since I cannot maintain a distribution alone seriously.) Yes, especially since the Invis server is in production at various places already and has quite some features.

It certainly is I guess, this topic always comes up when talking about something reliable under the table simply doing work without much care :-) However, we do not want to focus on that now, since we first should bring sort out the obvious problems such as packages etc.
(You guys here probably notice that I'm searching for help to make this happen ;-) since I cannot maintain a distribution alone seriously.) Of course and I am sure once we have a little community here and have done our housekeeping so far, we will revisit that.

Gentlemen! Imho we need to translate the invis-server.org websites to English asap - considering to attract more people. (although I assume DE will do well for the moment, in the future we'll have to be prepared) Being based in Vienna, Austria I am pretty positive that invis could grow big in countries like Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, ....too. Over there smart led companys go for open-source big style - can be number one targets (SME for example is really big in eastern Europe, so why shouldn't the superior invis-concept gain some big points as well?) there is a LOT of really talented programmers and sysadmins in the former eastern block countries -> So how d ya guys think about an "international" website as a starting point for all non German speaking folks out there? (e.g. intl.invis-server.org, en.invis-server.org or the like) I can imagine the site as a docuwiki/monobook based collection of "best of's" from the actual wiki/forum/www/blog. I'm willing to give aid with any needed translation :-) I'm half Canadian, a native speaker. I can translate almost anything from German into proper English and vice verso ... (Btw. the forum should be transitioned to English as well - at least new posts) Cheers Markus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-invis+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-invis+help@opensuse.org

I'd like to jump in as well. I am not a developer nor a package maintainer but I'd like to offer assistance in testing and documentation. Actually I am already involved with similar projects for small and medium businesses but currently everything is setup manually. So please let me know what I can do (I can't promise I'll have all the time, but let's give it a try).
