Why not just nautilus? Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I use Nautilus for FTP from time to time as well. Fortunately, I don't have issues with the specific FTP servers I connect to. But, there were some limitations iirc about Nautilus FTP, such as inability to change from active to passive FTP (which is an important one. Can't remember the other ones. For easy use of FTP, I actually recommend FireFTP extension right in Firefox for most of my users. It's easy to use and handles just about all of the FTP configurable needs the average joe needs. Of course, we don't package FF plugins, so that's moot for this discussion, I guess. We could of course package FF plugins if they are an important part of the distribution. The extension handling of FF with AMO and automatic updates and so on makes it usually not useful to have them in RPM form. http://en.opensuse.org/Packaging/Mozilla#Extensions_.28incl._Themes.29 Wolfgang -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org

I agree, I don't think we should include it in our package, because it just opens up a big can of worms. It's easy enough to install these plug-ins with one click directly from FireFox's website. I was just merely pointing out an alternative FTP client that exists without our need to package additional beyond Nautilus. Hi Vincent,
Oops, I never noticed that Nautilus can do the job for me :D
Thanks

Hi Vuntz,
I tried ftp.novell.com and ftp.mozilla.org using Nautilus, It didn't
connect me. I'm using through proxy. More over, If I have configured a
server previously, I can't modify the properties !?! Looks like I need
to delete and create a new one ? I tried right click on the local ssh
server folder, it doesn't display me any properties menu.
Thanks
Nagappan

I disagree. gFTP also manages SSH connections, and it's pretty easy to use, even though not the most modern FTP client. So I vote to let it stay the default. Nautilus in my experience fails with certain FTP sites and it's terribly slow on SSH connections. With kind regards, Alberto -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
Hi Alberto,
FileZilla is much user friendly as compared to gFtp and FileZilla UI
is much cleaner than gFtp. That's my personal opinion.
Thanks

Please open bugs for each FTP site where it fails. Else, it will never get fixed ;-) Vincent -- Les gens heureux ne sont pas pressés. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-gnome+help@opensuse.org
