[New: openFATE 323795] dracut / mkinitrd should backup old initrd
Feature added by: Mischa Salle (msalle) Feature #323795, revision 1 Title: dracut / mkinitrd should backup old initrd openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Mischa Salle (msalle) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: When e.g. systemd gets updated, dracut / mkinitrd updates all the existing initrds in /boot, i.e. for all the installed kernel versions. In case of problems such as the recent https://bugzilla.suse.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1048679, this can easily lead to being locked out. It would be very helpful if the process would backup at least the previously used initrd, which was used to successfully boot the system, to ease rolling back. Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: Having a backup of a working initrd eases recovering and rolling back in case an update has broken boot. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/323795
