[New: openFATE 322122] symlink "openSUSE-oldstable" on download.o.o
Feature added by: Oliver Kurz (okurz) Feature #322122, revision 1 Title: symlink "openSUSE-oldstable" on download.o.o openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Oliver Kurz (okurz) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: On http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/ there is already openSUSE-current/ currently pointing to leap/42.2 as well as openSUSE-stable/ pointing as well to leap/42.2 I am not exactly sure on their definition. A README in http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/ would help. Anyway, it is good to have them and if they are switched at release time to the new released version this is fine. It would be desirable to have a link openSUSE-oldstable pointing to the previous point-release of Leap. Potential alternatives: * Update the 'stable' pointer not at release time but about 6 months later, still update 'current' at release time Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: As external contributors, e.g. graphics card manufacturers and codec providers, in some cases are not ready with a corresponding repository for a new released version at the point of release users of the openSUSE-stable repository updating at that time would have problems with external dependencies. Using a repository that points to a slightly older version which is still supported by maintenance would alleviate that problem. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/322122
