[openFATE 307798] Amarok 2.2 in opensuse 11.2
Feature added by: Peter Gumbrell (gumb) Feature #307798, revision 1 Title: Amarok 2.2 in opensuse 11.2 Package Wishlist: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Peter Gumbrell (gumb) Description: This is a late appeal to devs in view of the current release roadmap. I believe the possibility of updating the Amarok version to 2.2 in the forthcoming OS 11.2 release was rejected some weeks back in a KDE meeting, though I don't know the technical reason. Perhaps it introduces too many breakages, but I wondered if there was any prospect of developers reversing this decision, bearing in mind that other apps like SeaMonkey, Virtualbox have still been updated only this week? Also, considering the decision was made to include currently very buggy alpha releases of KDE4 apps like Kaffeine and K3B, the new Amarok 2.2 RC1 just appeared today and it seems the final release will therefore be out well before OS 11.2, possibly leaving openSUSE behind with its version compared to others in the glut of distros releasing around the October / November period. There are various changes and bugfixes in the 2.2 release, but I think most notably the inclusion of CD support for playing and ripping is a major feature many would benefit from, negating the need for installation of separate media playing or ripping apps. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/307798
