[New: openFATE 309129] tar should support acls
Feature added by: John Lange (johnlange) Feature #309129, revision 1 Title: tar should support acls openSUSE-11.3: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: John Lange (johnlange) Description: The version of tar in openSUSE does not support acls therefore any backups done with the Yast backup/restore tool that rely on tar do not preserve advanced permissions. This may be especially problematic for systems co-existing in a Windows environment. As a side note, Novell seems to be promoting acls as a feature of SLE so making them work with backup/restore should be relatively important. From what I can gather from this thread; http://www.mail-archive.com/bug-tar@gnu.org/msg02273.html Fedora has a custom patched tar with acl support? Mysteriously this man page claims to be for the GNU version of tar and has mention of acls: http://linux.die.net/man/1/tar I can only assume it's actually the Fedora man page? -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/309129
