[opensuse-factory] VirtualBox VMs freeze host on startup with host Kernel 3.3.0-16
Hello, knowing perfectly that I'm on my own ;) I just want to give some information here about an issue I got with a special setup: OpenSUSE 12.1, Tumbleweed, Kernel 3.3.0-16-desktop-x86_64 FS is BTRFS on a single volume with subvolumes for /, /srv and /home all done as RAID1 for meta- and userdata on two physical harddrives. NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-295.33 is installed. I use VirtualBox 4.1.10 PUEL, installed from Oracles repo for OpenSUSE So far all works fine until I try to start any of my virtual machines, which are stored under /srv. 30-45 secs after a vm starts booting up the host machines OS freezes - all I can do is pull the plug. Sometime the LEDs on my keyboard are flashing after the OS crashed. I tested with a Ubuntu 8.04 (32) server and a Win 7 32 VM so far. Neither VM will manage to show its login prompt. To make this perfect absolutely no entries are given in the syslog or the VM's logfile. After a hard reset it sometimes happens that VBox complains no kernel-modules were present and I have to recompile them (nevertehless the machine crashes again on then next VM start). I solved the issue temporarily by downgrading to the official Suse-kernel (3.1.9-1.4-desktop) on which all VMs run fine with the same setup. On other setups with Tumbleweed, ext4 and Intel onboard graphics Virtualbox runs fine with Krenel 3.3.0-16. Are there any known problems I possibly missed?
