[opensuse-factory] Checking dependencies using YAST
From time to time I use YAST to update (10.3 AMD 64).
I also have the problem that the connection sometimes goes bad half way the update process. By then YAST has already installed/updated certain components (applied diff RPMs). My question is if it is possible for YAST to re-check every package and ensure that all the missing dependencies are installed and if not to reinstall the missing dependencies. Currently I have the feeling that certain dependencies are not present and the box locks up. If I would know which ones are missing I could do a forced reinstall... This issues was discussed a while back and can not find it in the bugslist Hugo -- Hugo Oosterkamp Land & Water Development Wat San Coordinator Moçambique Intermon Oxfam email: hugo@oosterkamp.eu 00 258 82 622 8796 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
Hola!
My question is if it is possible for YAST to re-check every package and ensure that all the missing dependencies are installed and if not to reinstall the missing dependencies.
Yes, we have such functionality in libzypp and Qt and ncurses package managers both offer it. Just go to Extra menu in Qt package manager (or Etc. menu in ncurses PM) and select 'Verify system'. This way, libzypp solver should check all dependencies and mark missing packages (that were e.g. manually uninstalled by rpm) for installation/update, in short, repair the system. Hope that helps B. -- \\\\\ Katarina Machalkova \\\\\\\__o YaST developer __\\\\\\\'/_ & hedgehog painter
