[opensuse-factory] Updated to KDE43. Beta2 (4.2.90) - Basket Note Pad disappeared - Where did it go?
Listmates, I updated to Beta 2 and after the update "basket notepads" for Beta 2 is nowhere to be found. I haven't added or removed any repositories and.. it was certainly there for Beta 1. (I wrote bugs against it at kde.org) So what happened to it in Beta2? I have searched the repositories and it is just ... gone. Any ideas? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. BasKet has never been part of the KDE4 Factory or Unstable Desktop repositories. For a short moment it was in KDE:KDE4:Community repo, but after creating of the Playground repo, it was moved there as that there is no official release of BasKet for KDE4. All we have at the moment are svn snapshots. They are working and seem not to cause any big disturbances, but still no official package as you can also read on the website http://basket.kde.org I do not know which version of openSUSE you are running, but if you add the repository : http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/KDE4:/Playground/openSUSE_XX.... (Where XX.X is either 11.1, 11.0, 10.3 or Factory.), you will find the basket package. Raymond, I have 1.0.3.1, but earlier I had the svn version and it must have come from one of the kde4 repositories because I didn't install it independently from anywhere else. Here are the kde bugs I wrote against it: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195343 https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=195623 I guess I was lucky enough to get the svn version while it was in one of the repos. It's gone now. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Raymond, Looks like the atavistic kde4 svn basket is back in the repos. Color scheme handling is better, still no expand/collapse markers and editing a single line entry is very 'squished' due to the over-large border put around the basket entries when they are 'edit' mode. KDE3 basket still works perfect in kde43, so I guess it is just a plasma screw-up with plasma trying to apply the oxygen/etc. plasma theme to the individual entries in edit mode that is mucking things up. I guess the kde3 version just ignores the plasma stuff so it still works fine. The version now in the kde4 repos is: basket-1.0svn20090618-1.3 -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Hi David, As far as I know, it never disappeared :-) But good that it is back for you. I have updated the package as that for about 2 days there was some activity. Which expand/collapse markers are you referring too ? The one in the left window (Baskets) is showing for me. But I have to agree with you that there is very big border around the individual entries which makes editing single line items very hard. The KDE3 version does not know anything about plasma or any other KDE4 setting, however it still requires portions of the KDE3 desktop environment (kdelibs, kdebase-runtime, etc)
The version now in the kde4 repos is: basket-1.0svn20090618-1.3
I hope that either later today or maybe tomorrow the version has been updated to basket-1.0svn20090623-x.x and maybe that version brings some more improvements. The expand/collapse '+' signs that are missing are the ones that appear in the right pane with grouped entries: http://www.3111skyline.com/download/openSUSE_bugs/kde4/screenshots/basket-kd... (137k)

I'll definitely check it out. My linux basket is one of my most used and most treasured apps. I have so much stuff squirreled away in there it is like a convenient second brain. I just save a backup to my server and restore the backup to whatever desktop I'm working on and I never forget a thing ;-) -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. You should really subscribe to http://basket.kde.org/mailinglist.php - your postings about development snapshots not in Factory are offtopic here. Bye, Steve -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
