As reported in boo#1099974 already three weeks ago, 1.20 breaks bumblebee/optirun on kmodesetting driver. As the intel driver isn't really useable either this really is a showstopper for many laptops. :((( -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Please provide exact steps to install bumblebee (repositories, versions, what was done after installation of packages, how bumblebee was configured). I may try to reproduce it using Live ISO. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I'm using bumblebee repo, http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/X11:/Bumblebee/openSUSE_Tumbleweed
From that I have installed VirtualGL bbswitch bbswitch-kmp-default bumblebee dkms nvidia-bumblebee primus (I also have the 32bit packages installed, as I mostly use it for games that still often come as 32bit). The install will download the latest nvidia driver and compile it. So you need kernel build environment.
AFAIR the only change I made to the default setup was setting "Bridge=primus" in /etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf. But it is almost two years since I set it up, I might have forgotten something.... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks Andrei for making me remember this, because when I set this to Bridge=virtualgl things run fine. So the error is likely in the primus package... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Actually, primusrun or optirun with primus backend works too, but you have to set PRIMUS_UPLOAD to 1 (texture) or 2 (PBO), on 0 (autodetect) it crashes. -- Kind regards, Mykola Krachkovsky -- Найкращі побажання, Микола Крачковський

Thanks Mykola! Indeed this makes it run, too. How did you learn about that variable? It seems it is nowhere mentioned (bumblebee.conf, optirun manpage). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Just looked into `/usr/bin/primusrun` script. -- Kind regards, Mykola Krachkovsky -- Найкращі побажання, Микола Крачковський

Aaahh! As I usually use optirun (which is an elf binary) I had not considered primusrun being a script :o -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Wait, what do you mean by "intel driver isn't really usable"?

Main issue is that rendering updates (mainly) on terminals are broken/intermittent. Text vanishes, or stays when it should be emptied. There were some mails about this here on the list IIRC. I also often get artifacts (colored pixels/lines) around windows. It also feels/is slower in many opengl applications (lower ramerates, more jumping) when compared to modesetting. I could live with the GL issues (laptop is mainly for work) but the terminal issue makes it unusable for work. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
