[opensuse-factory] Resume From Windows Hibernation
All. After windows goes into hibernation mode, the computer will not boot into Linux. It stops and asks for root password and drops to command prompt. The only way to reboot into Linux is to start windows to recover from its hibernation mode. After shutting windows down normally, Linux will boot normally. Is this normal behavior? Can any changes be made to recover from Windows hibernation mode? Regards. Disable Fastboot in Windows. It's an advanced kind of suspend and wake up, and will keep the filesysten in a "in use" state.

Yes if you configured Linux to mount Windows drives on boot.
Can any changes be made to recover from Windows
hibernation mode?
Not without risking Windows filesystem corruption.
Regards. Disable Fastboot in Windows.
How is it going to help if someone intentionally hibernates Windows? In this case either do not do it, or do not attempt to mount Windows drives in Linux at all. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Disable Fastboot in Windows.

Thank you for the explanations and advice. I do mount windows drives and now understand the reason for stopping at the command line. Kind Regards. -- Sudhir Anand

Please don't post the same question on two mail lists at the same time. Also, IMO, this is not a question appropriate to the factory mail list. I will answer your question on the normal opensuse mail list, but I need to eat first. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 42.2 x86_64 "Malachite" at Telcontar)

Hi Carlos. Understand about not posting to both lists. I was not sure which list would be appropriate. Hope you enjoy your meal. Regards. -- Sudhir Anand -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
