Hi,
After I do a "zypper up", I attempt "zypper dup", which does nothing. It has happened twice. Is this normal? I think not, but... :-?
What's your expectation ? It depends on the repositories you have enabled and the installed packages. If the repositories 'only' provide package updates to your installed system, "up" and "dup" won't differ. "dup" will additionally allow renames (combination of provides and obsoletes) and vendor changes. See http://en.opensuse.org/Upgrade_Dependencies for details. Well, last factory round (11.0 -> 11.1) zypper up would almost do nothing, and dup would download a lot. I wanted to know if what I see is normal for this factory run, if that is what everybody sees.
It depends on the repositories you have enabled and the installed packages. If the repositories 'only' provide package updates to your installed system, "up" and "dup" won't differ.
I don't know what they provide. I have the typical: Factory_OSS, Factory_non-oss. In fact, "dup" offerred to download 41 MiB just after I removed the DVD repo, per Ken advice.
"dup" will additionally allow renames (combination of provides and obsoletes) and vendor changes. See http://en.opensuse.org/Upgrade_Dependencies for details.
Mmmm... Too technical for me at this time :-) - -- Cheers, Carlos E.
