Check if "systemd-timesyncd" is running instead. Then choose to use either ntp or systemd-timesyncd. See thread: Date: Fri, 22 Dec 2017 13:15:23 +0100 From: Peter Suetterlin To: opensuse@opensuse.org Subject: [opensuse] ntpd and systemd -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. systemctl status systemd-timesyncd says ? For most users systemd-timesyncd should do the job just fine, by default it will sync time with google "leap smearing" public timeservers..you may configure whatever server you want in timsyncd.conf. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Thank you for tip :) not sure if i can start during installation but it works systemctl status systemd-timesyncd ● systemd-timesyncd.service - Network Time Synchronization Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/systemd-timesyncd.service; disabled; vendor preset: disabled) Active: active (running) since Sat 2018-01-06 02:09:08 CET; 2s ago Docs: man:systemd-timesyncd.service(8) Main PID: 4570 (systemd-timesyn) Status: "Synchronized to time server 216.239.35.0:123 (time1.google.com)." Hi,
reason for it is that installation switched from ntp to chrony by
default. So service should check is chronyd instead of ntpd.
For reasoning see https://chrony.tuxfamily.org/comparison.html
