[opensuse-factory] packman status
Hello, Recent discussions on this list makes me think there should be some change (minor) in the way the community repositories are shown to the users. IMHO, packman should have a special status, just after the official repos and far before any OBS repo. packman is an incredible addition to openSUSE, I can say that openSUSE could not live in a personal computer system without packman (and you know why) But no newcommer can know that, so the community list should be shown like this: Official repos: OSS non-OSS UPDATE (...) Major repo: Packman *Under this, use at your own risks* OBS repos (unstable, but openSUSE friendly): (...) Proprietary repos: NVIDIA ATI VLC OpenOffice.org (...) jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://valerie.dodin.org http://news.opensuse.org/2009/04/13/people-of-opensuse-jean-daniel-dodin/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Official repos: OSS non-OSS UPDATE (...)

*Under this, use at your own risks*
Packman is the most risky one actually ... Ciao, Marcus -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

- Quite some overlap between opensuse packages can cause dependency issues. - Very easy for strangers to participate and so overtake computers of people using Packman. Two seperate repos .. Packman Codecs (mp3, xine, mplayer, dvd) Packman Updates (other stuff) would perhaps be better, since most users are likely just interested in the Codecs. Which then get resolved. The packmans test things you know. The repo is far from perfect but its not as bad as you describe it....

As hard as in the OBS repos. And strangers to whom? Not to me for instance.
Two seperate repos ..
Packman is not going to do that for obvious reasons. Henne -- http://opensuse.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
