In a few day the new branding package will hit factory. And I really would like to get any feedback about the new branding (artwork or factory -ml would be perfect place)
Ok here goes :) The corners[1] and bottom edge[2] have a dark green solid shadow, this doesn't look so good, it should probably be an anti-aliased grey drop shadow or remove it entirely. The inner shadow of the text fields or the text field corner decoration[3] is blurred and out of proportion. It looks like it's been stretched horizontally by a few pixels, I think it would look better if it was sharper and the rounding of the corners was the same proportions as the parent box corners. The white control group box border[4] might be better looking if it was the same dark grey as the seperator lines used above. I think the use of white on light grey never looks clean or crisp and doesn't give the whole box a consistent feel. Also for consistency the padding[4] between the white border and the inner dark grey background should be the same on the left and right as it is on the top edge. The icons[5] don't contrast well against the box background, more colour & more dark grey or less white & light grey is probably required to make them stand out more. I don't understand the meaning of a carriage return or enter symbol as a button[6] here. Should I click the button or press enter? If the action is to perform a login then the button should either say "Login" or should have it's icon as a recognized login symbol. The current icon is confusing because I have never seen it used in a button before and it's not something I expect to see in a login dialogue. The overall grey colour of the box looks slightly washed out on my screen, perhaps because of the vivid green background (which i like very much). It's almost like a little bit of yellow or green is leeching into the box, a slightly darker tone of grey would alleviate this and would also contrast better against the green title text "tumbleweed". Bug in kde rendering svg, nothing we can improve if we want sizeable box.

Then I stop here, cause it show me that you didn't look at the last version. Graham I point the top of the thread which contain the first draft. Sorry to have not been more precise on that subject. The overlay was added by me to had contrast compared to original Eugene proposal. It could also be removed.

The current icon is confusing because I have never seen it used in a button before and it's not something I expect to see in a login dialogue. You have to hit enter or click on it, for login. those kind of symbol was present in 11.3 & 11.4 theme http://geeko.ioda.net/git/art/login/kdm-SUSE/enter.png and none for 12.1 theme ...

Well those are pure stock oxygen, now we can also remove them and let the full standard label Username, password, domain the green title is the official green which is light right. the panel could perhaps look darker.

Don't know if you can, but the whole branding is already in Base:System/opensuse-branding package You can cherry pick the kdm-branding from there, it should not need the 12.2 background it use the default one installed so should work out of the box on 12.1+ If I get good feedback and working state, then perhaps it could be accepted as an update for 12.1 but that's another (big) discussion about rules etc ... -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Ambassador GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I would like to see the shading around the entire 3 text fields a lot darker. Tabs should be on the bottom so when the user selects a sub menu. The windows should open up below the password and not overlap the other fields. I don't agree especially for very small screen (think about opensuse arm on phones and tablet) we want that :-)

Bruno,
Can we get a Tumbleweed kdm theme available for us Tumbleweed users?

Don't know if you can, but the whole branding is already in Base:System/opensuse-branding package
You can cherry pick the kdm-branding from there, it should not need the 12.2 background it use the default one installed so should work out of the box on 12.1+ If I get good feedback and working state, then perhaps it could be accepted as an update for 12.1 but that's another (big) discussion about rules etc ...
Oops. Small screens yes. You're absolutely right :-)
Has anybody thought about implementing the 20th anniversary of openSUSE into the theme or desktop wallpaper art??
Roman
Damned, why you didn't tell anything some month ago :-) okay then we need a special branding for 12.2 in summit september, and osc in november
Whew! Better now than in June ;-) Cheers! Roman --------------------------------------------------------------- openSUSE -- Get it! Discover it! +1 This part is not only for Roman: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I was tempted to send quote from all 6 messages with roughly 3 pages of quotes in each, which is about 21 pages, with only +1 at the end, but I deleted all that few moments before it was sent. Quoting is good to mark paragraphs that you are answering to, which can be done with 1 line per paragraph (it is just mark to help you find paragraph in original message), but having to scroll 21 page with only 17 lines of new text is a bit out of control. Every reader of this list has complete thread, or it can be retrieved from archives, so keeping discussion history in every message is not necessary. I'm not surprised that people like IRC more. There is no quoting at all so people have habit to read previous text, all works fine. -------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
