[opensuse-factory] Wallpapers
Hello, I was wondering if openSUSE 11.1 is going to include a nice set of wallpapers (from KDE-Look.org or elsewhere). BTW, where can I get the previous openSUSE 11.1 factory default wallpaper? I prefer it to the default one on RC 1. This wallpaper was similar to the boot/shutdown image used on RC 1. To get more wallpapers, you can join to artwork:wallpapers OBS project. Just now it contains 15 packages with ~800 wallpapers. More packages would be welcome. -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: sbrabec@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 966, +49 911 740538747 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for the info. A few questions: Is there a quick way too see what wallpapers are included in the propaganda packages? From what I've seen, It seems that I would have to download/install them all. I would like to see the thumbnails. Are there any specific guidelines to contribute? I mean do you accept pictures or do you prefer a rpm package with pictures in it? OBS does not provide a simple way to offer screenshots for packages, so I made no screeenshot. They are abstract seamless tiles. It is a popular work of Bowie J. Poag (vol. 00-12) and Naru Sundar (vol. 13-14) as it was packaged in 1999-2000. The only added value of openSUSE packages is a GNOME and KDE background selector integration.

If you want to contribute, I can add you to a list of maintainers in this Build Service repository. The only way is a RPM source package, which can be submitted to the Build Service. Feel free to copy my scripts in the propaganda spec files to get your backgrounds integrated into GNOME and KDE. If you will need a help, feel free to ask me. Images must have a permissive license. -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: sbrabec@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 966, +49 911 740538747 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Yes, I would like to contribute. My username is javierllorente. I was thinking about making a collection of wallpapers (mainly from KDE- Look.org), and put the author's name, so that it shows up when the user selects any wallpaper from the collection, much like Nuno Pinheiro's Blue Curl. I don't know how to do that yet. Another important thing would be getting feedback from users (I don't like this one/could you please add this wallpaper?/etc). We could use the wiki to do that. The page "Wallpaper" hasn't been updated in a long time. What about a new one called "Wallpapers" (Artwork/Wallpapers)? We could also create another one for the seamless tiles (with some thumbnails maybe?).
The only way is a RPM source package, which can be submitted to the Build Service.

OK. I will take a look at your scripts. Any suggestion regarding the name of the rpm package? Is "wallpapers" acceptable?
Images must have a permissive license. Of course :-P

You are now a maintainer of artwork:wallpapers. Please don't alter propaganda wallpapers set - it is a complete collection as it was released by artists.

I wrote some magic to convert KDE metadata to GNOME metadata or generate them from scratch. For examples, see: any propaganda*.spec file in artwork:wallpapers desktop-data-openSUSE.spec in Factory or 11.1

Well, http://en.opensuse.org/Wallpaper is not my work and I seen it today for the first time. I guess you can edit it. Due to the current search engine behavior (exact match in page name = no search results) it would be needed to add some links to both /Wallpaper and /Wallpapers pages.
The only way is a RPM source package, which can be submitted to the Build Service.

Maybe more descriptive name would be better (use source of images, artist, type of collection or anything else). -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: sbrabec@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 966, +49 911 740538747 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Is it really necessary to build for 3 distributions? I think it should suffice to build against openSUSE_10.3 (until we have LSB base target), and rename the repository to make it obvious that it is not limited to this distribution. You could also disable x86_64 as packages are noarch. -- Best Regards / S pozdravom, Pavol RUSNAK SUSE LINUX, s.r.o Package Maintainer Lihovarska 1060/12 PGP 0xA6917144 19000 Praha 9, CR prusnak[at]suse.cz http://www.suse.cz -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
