[opensuse-factory] Quanta fish kio status on KDE4 for 11.1 and 11.2?
Listmates, I wanted to check and get the latest on whether the Quanta fish kio problem in kde4 has been resolved for 11.1 and if not will it be for 11.2? If not, can something like a kdebase3-runtime be included in 11.2 so we don't lose functionality? Thanks. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E. Inclusion of a KDE3 runtime has always been planned for 11.2. And Quanta is one of the KDE3 apps intended to be kept. http://en.opensuse.org/KDE/Ideas/11.2 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

So there you go David yet another botched job first there is NO KDE3.x.x in 11.2 now there IS KDE3.x.x in 11.2 need i say any more .. you never know one day we might see an important APP like Quanta native on KDE4.x.x but think it will be a few year yet there is too much time being spen on EYE CANDY for APPs to gain any programing time . No. If you would be so interested in how transition from kde 3 to 4 goes, you will see that even 4.0 had included base libraries to run kde3 applications, and this just continues.

I have feeling that you really have very slim idea how it works overall, and specially in KDE. How hard is to understand that programming is just the way to tell machine to do something. It is the same as knowing the foreign language. You still have to be expert for electronics, graphic hardware, network protocols, business, machinery, energy production, distribution, agriculture, name the field, to be able to tell foreign person what to do to accomplish task. Talking that more attention should be given to applications is bad simplification. It is based on assumption that every programmer (translator) is specialist for every part of human knowledge and can be assigned to any task. Application developer is specialist for one, or seldom more areas, and can't be reassigned to different area with more success than business consultant to design electronic device. The fact that there is more graphic solutions then applications, tells only that there is more people that can do that then those that are specialists for particular areas. That is nothing different then it is in normal (non-computer related) life. Everybody know how to use pencil and make some drawing, there is no need for long education, but there is much lesser engineers. I hope that this will help you to understand that popular "they pay too much attention to bling" has little merit in a real life. In particular Quanta, is complex project, it has to incorporate general rules and standards used in web design, plus ability to edit content in a user friendly way. You know how much time is used for development of viewers (browsers) you can imagine that not lesser is needed for editor. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Well shall we put it like this I want the APPS working i could not give a monkeys about the silly fancy bits as long as the apps launch and work correctly WITHOUT moaning about bits missing like Qunata does under KDE4.2.2 i aint interested in screen savers ect i aint even interested in Dolphin cus it sucks compared with Konqueror (B4 it was dumbed down) . I am n ot into beating about the bush as far as i am concerned get the APPS ported and working then fanny about with the fancy stuff and the argument that it needs the fancy stuff to make it work dont wash either , If KDE4 is to be pushed out into use then make sure you have the APPS to back it up no APPS no release simple . I am getting realy sick of this total lack of willingness to get it right we are being force to use something that is screwed up for the want of a better description it is only a partial work dont make us use something that is not ready as far as i am concerned KDE4.x.x will remain BETA untill it has a full compliment of fully working apps . It strikes me the KDE devs are taking a leaf out of the ATI devs books by just carrying on regardless then poping up with some smarmy comment and going into hiding again . Get it right for crying out loud thats all we want faf around with the tarty bits after but get the APPS working it is worthless without APPS Hence this box is staying on 10.3 and kde3.5.9 where everything works as it should . The only people being forced to do anything around here is to stomach your baseless rantings which really appear drug based, being required to interpret your mis-typings and atrocious use/mis-use of your ?native langguage and lack of punctuation. All of these could be/would be/have been ignored, but you drive it into the ground. Grow up and quit acting like a five year old, and that may be a stretch. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Martin, Good deal, this is a biggie for the quanta users. There isn't a replacement for it. Glad to see the decision has been made. -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
