[opensuse-factory] Apologies from me to devs
Apparently I have been offending people in my feeble attepts to help, in particular regarding attempting to identify issues in RC2. Apparently I over estimated my competence, and so I apologize for my unintentional infractions. If you, the developers would be so kind as to clarify what an appropriate usage of this list is in that regard considering I am not a dev, it would be appreciated. If there is no appropriate usage I will simply unsubscribe so as to unburden you and avoid the temptation to comment on things that I apparently understand far less than I had thought. -- "The pyramid is opening!" If someone is grumping at you off-list, ignore them. I've looked back through a few of your postings, and to be honest I see nothing there that looks anything at all like anyone was offended by you. At most, someone mentioned that the opensuse-factory mailing list should be focused on development of the next version of openSUSE, and that general questions are better suited for forums, IRC and the general openSUSE mailing lists. That's a simple request just as a reminder.... (one we've probably all had at one time or another) So, use: - opensuse@opensuse.org for general questions - opensuse-factory@opensuse.org for discussions around the development/testing of the next release (you don't need to be a developer to participate... reporting/discussing problems you find while testing the next release are appropriate, while asking how to find a setting is more suitable for a different list) - opensuse-kde@openoffice.org for KDE related - opensuse-gnome@openoffice.org for Gnome related and so on... the mailing list names are fairly self-explanatory. Most important, don't let one or two grumpy people put you off here. They are just participants like you or I, and they have bad days.. and good days... like we all do. If someone seems grumpy with you, let it slide, don't stress over it, and don't read more into it than what is really there. Please comment on things where you feel the need, and where you can contribute... that means asking questions, that means sharing your knowledge and so on - but try to keep it on topic, and on the appropriate mailing list. We sometimes slide into tangent discussions, and someone steps in to remind us to stay on topic for the mailing list - no one is offended (or should be). Thank you for your response. I had thought the majority of my postings were on topic, particularly with testing RC2. I wouldn't say I had been grumped at, but I certainly wanted to make sure that had I misunderstood my intention was known and that I intended to respect whatever the policy was which I may have violated. -- Anything that is good and useful is made of chocolate. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
