I'm still running 10.0, massively updated from apt repositories. Anyone care to pull the background image from /boot/message with cpio and send it to me? I'd love to see this theme you like so much. I personaly think it is hidious. Just personal taste. I replace it always with something else. The booting itself I do in text mode, because when I reboot, I want to see what is going on as I rarely have the chance to see it. :-) I can only asume that other people will find my choice hidious, so please don't feel hurt. houghi -- Nutze die zeit. I would say it is clean, spartan and "professional", but hardly inspiring. It is a lot better than some previous versions and I think it looks good for the few seconds it is on screen - for the boot I also press Esc and watch what is going on - if I am at the machine... Usually I switch on while cleaning my teeth, then come back when it has finished booting, give my username and password and then go and make the coffee; the wonders of having an office next to the bedroom :-P And I *do* like the Grub screen with the blue-through-pink lizard, quirky, colourful and different :-) Dave

Edit /boot/grub/menu.lst so you do not need to press esc. houghi -- Nutze die zeit. Sie ist das Kostbarste was wir haben, denn es ist unwiederbringliche Lebenszeit. Leben ist aber mehr als Wert und Arbeit, und das Sein wichtiger als das tun. Johannes Müller-Elmau
