There is a suspicion that there is an issue with the glib main loop here. A patch was just submitted to Factory (currently in staging) Brave people can try to

osc getbinaries GNOME:Factory glib2 openSUSE_Factory x86_64 rpm -Fhv binaries/*.rpm

Would be good to receive some feedback on that upfront - in case this is not the issue, a bug report might be required (if glib fixes it, well, some patiance please, it's on the way) Cheers, Dominique

I can confirm this in KDE if the checkbos is set: use openGL rendering If I uncheck this box everything works as expected. This is on a Tuxedo intel haswell iris gpu (i7-4770HQ cpu) Note: you can only access this box if you do not have the libreoffice-gtk3 or -gnome rpm installed. I *cannot* confirm this: I've removed libreoffice-gtk3 and OpenGL was disabled on my system because of former crashes anyway. The CPU still goes up too 100%. Enabling and again disabling OpenGL did not make a difference (despite another crash).

Note that the CPU load goes down as long as the modal options dialogue is open. This might be what you observed and is IMHO a good indicator that something's wrong with the glib main loop like Dominique wrote in a former posting in this thread.

Interesting. I also saw the load going down while I was in the options menu. However on my machine it is still enough to uncheck this box. I just rechecked.
