Re: [opensuse-factory] KDe4.8 in oS12.1?

I installed 4.8 last night with no real problems from here: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE:/Release:/48/openSUSE_12.1/KDE...
I had to remove the kdm-branding-openSUSE-12.1-15.3.9.noarch package to resolve some dependancies but otherwise it all worked.
Which is the upstream repo.. not Factory.... so... bleh... it's so unclear which one to use where. I usually use Factory (esp for KDE)... I'm happy to use Upstream too :-) I'll give it a whirl here. But... there are a few misleading bits on the KDE repo page. The one I linked should be Factory 4.8 builds for Factory, 11.4 and 12.1... I've checked and Factory are the only ones that have been updated. So... are "we" updating the Factory repos there for 11.4 and 12.1? (when?) or are they staying as they are? (and thus should be removed from that part of the Wiki page) C. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Hi I found this: http://kdeatopensuse.wordpress.com/2012/01/25/kde-sc-4-8-packages-for-opensu... It sounds promising, a friend of mine already did it and it worked. I will try it tommorow morning but if you want give it a look :D Have fun Kostas -- http://opensuse.gr http://amb.opensuse.gr http://own.opensuse.gr http://warlordfff.tk me I am not me ------- Time travel is possible, you just need to know the right aliens -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Have you had a chance to try it (KDE4.8 upstream) out yet? I've been using it for a few hours now, and i'm seriously considering rolling back to 4.7.4. This bug with the Panel or QT (not showing apps in the Task Manager that are running, and/or not removing apps when they are closed, and/or not responding to clicks) is really annoying. Hmmm maybe it's time to install Cinnamon :-P C. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I don't see that, but you should probably wait until KDE:Release:48 or KDE:Distro:Factory finishes building KDE SC 4.8. Currently KDF is still on 4.7.4 and Release:48 is a mix of 4.8 and 4.7.4 packages. -Todd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

I don't see that. If you're thinking about apps like kcalc I thought that was an issue too, but then I looked at the upstream homepage for the apps and saw that 4.7.4 is in fact the latest stable release of it, even for KDE SC 4.8 So as far as I can tell, Release:48 is complete - I didn't look at absolutely everything in there, but the ones I did look at that seemed anomalous were ok Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

kwalletmanager is at 4.7.4 but the sources on OBS say it should be at 4.8.0. -Todd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

OBS was wrong then. Bit it looks like the package has been removed completely from Release 4.8, and for good reason. kdeutils was not part of the 4.8 release, the latest stable release of it is the 4.7.x version. I think you can trust the release:48 repo Anders -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Not sure where my text went. It works for me, i.e. I do not have that panel issue. The only panel freezing bug I know of can be resolved by disabling apper in systemsettings > start/stop > services and restarting KDE. I did finally last night, there were some dificulties but I had a KDE 'expert' with me and made everything work alright, now it works and I find it great ;-)

You can use the obs monitor to check which packages are currently build, what source they use and what the publish flag for the repo is set to. You will see that KDF does contain 4.8 and publishing is enabled but it did not happen yet because it did not finsih building. https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor?project=KDE%3ADistro%3AFactory Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
