AFAIK, shim in Tumbleweed wasn't upgraded since 13.2 because of the signature.

I am seeing two serious problems with the 20141225 update. I have not yet filed any bug report.
Problem 1: I am unable to boot the 3.18 kernel. My Tumbleweed system uses an encrypted LVM, and the kernel is not reading the keyboard. So there is no way that I can enter the encryption key. I am still able to boot the 3.17.4 kernel.
Replying to myself on this. I have filed bug 911319. It turns out that the "initrd" needs to include the "xhci_pci" module for it to work. The details are mentioned in the bug report. If you have this problem, remember to rebuild the "initrd" after making the suggested change. As far as I know, the "xhci_*" modules are used on systems with USB3. My keyboard was plugged into a USB2 port, but still needed this module. On the other (secure-boot) issue, it was a problem with the firmware mucking around with the boot order. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Changed packages:
Updated to Tw 20141225 and kernel-desktop-3.18.1-1.2.x86_64 this evening. No major problems noticed so far, except several of the NVidia driver packages will not compile: NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-343.13.run NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-343.22.run NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-343.36.run fail to compile, but NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-340.58.run does compile. kernel-desktop 3.18.1 is from http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/ I see it is also at http://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/ But the rpm file sizes are different? I recently tried to switch from factory repos to tumbleweed and had major problems with conflicts and missing requirements and just got my desktop somewhat stabilized again. I thought that present factory, which previously was tw, and tw were supposed to be the same thing right now and would sometime in the near future need to be made only tw. My recent experiences do not support this. Can be. After all, rpms are compressed, and compression depends upon contents, and contents (even just timestamps) change. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

There's still a small difference the url :-) Mirrors for http://download.opensuse.org/tumbleweed/repo/oss/suse/x86_64/kernel-default-... http://anorien.csc.warwick.ac.uk/mirrors/download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/... (gb, prio 105) Mirrors are using factory, at least until factory really become no more published and tumbleweed yes there's will be some dangling symlink around. As stated with the tumbleweed becoming factory released and published plan, this should change later. For those of us, who need a local synchronized tumbleweed mirror it is a bit annoying to mimic the 302 redirection of any download.o.o/tumbleweed/ request -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Board, fsfe fellowship GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
