[opensuse-factory] Howto add applications to my task bar? Where's "Add Application"?
Listmates, I can't find out how to add applications to the task bar. When I choose edit panel, all the choices I have are to add widget add panel. Is the add application option hiding somewhere else. -- David C. Luiz, all, After trying -- that doesn't work. I use the "Classic Style" menu and there doesn't appear to be any way to just drag-n-drop an entry from the menu to the taskbar. I don't think so, David, because I just tried myself and from my perspective the "drop/drag" thing is a myth. hehehe.... Yeah, its kind difficult to make this think work, first the panel should be unlocked, second you have to open the panel's toolbox (in the right corner of the panel) then you can drag&drop, but sometimes it didn't work ;-) regards and good luck! You don't need to keep the panel settings opened. Just unlock widgets and dran&drop the icon. even more difficult is to find draggable icon, which may be placed on panel. for ex: "show desktop" widget can be add to desktop, and it will be shown with icon, that can be draged bu the edge. but there is no way to put this icon on panel (for this user need to call "add widget" dialog on panel, and add "show desktop" directly to the panel) thing that there are different type of icons is weird, and unintuitive. kde developers and Aaron especially already was told about such strange usability ways, but as people says, "this is his vision of usability". -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Luiz, This is where the problem is. From the kickoff menu you CAN drag-n-drop an "application" to the task bar, but you CANNOT add an "application folder" to the taskbar in any way, shape form or fashion the way you can add a folder to the taskbar in KDE 3. Adding a folder to the taskbar is the only legitimate way to get the applications you want at your finger-tips without completely filling the taskbar up with a lot of silly icons. I use menu editor to create a folder under "Utilities/dcrTools" which itself has subfolders and then I fill it with the applications I want at my finger-tips. This is what we need the capability to add to the taskbar, not one application at a time. Here is a screenshot of my menu: http://www.3111skyline.com/download/screenshots/kde/taskbar-menu.jpg How do I add that to the taskbar in kde4? -- David C.
