[opensuse-factory] Progress on USB bootable DVD iso for 11.4?
Has anyone been able to make any progress on this Feature request for 11.4? https://features.opensuse.org/310123 I'm just trying out the various 11.4 RC1 builds, and Studio Image Writer still cannot write the DVD iso to USB... ie the hybrid iso thing isn't in place for the DVD iso. I'm using unetbootin as the fallback for this, but it's a poor quality workaround. just doing isohybrid foo.iso cat foo.iso > /dev/sdb has always worked for me. Some of the isos seem to have isohybrid already applied, but it did never hurt me doing it a second time ;) -- Stefan Seyfried "Dispatch war rocket Ajax to bring back his body!" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

OK I agree this works, but that doesn't tell me (or anyone else) why we can make the LiveCDs work with USB without any farting around, (ie hybrid isos) but the DVD iso won't work. There isn't (or shouldn't be) a technical reason for it... or have I missed something? Also... CLI might be easy for those of us familiar with Linux and CLI, but... there's no need/reason/excuse that I can think of that the DVD is not writable to US using GUI tools (eg SuSE Studio Writer). There is a technical difference between live cds and installation media and so far the installation medium part of kiwi does not support isohybrid. Several people promised to implement it, but all failed ;( Greetings, Stephan -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I've seen somewhere than the demo dvd have less programms included than ther vbox one, because the live dvd must be added. I had the feeling we can have both side by side (on the same medium), but not all in one, id that true? jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xgxog7_clip-l-ombre-et-la-lumiere-3-bad-pig... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGgv_ZFtV14 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

The promo dvd 11.3 installer is a lighter version of the normal iso. It also contain kde live & gnome live image. One side is 32bits the other is 64bits. -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Ambassador GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

That little snippet was pure gold! Never knew that was possible. //Bjørn -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
Hi all, isohybrid throws me an error about too large iso file and stops. Any workaround? Regards, Angelos On 02/17/2011 10:03 PM, Bjørn Lie wrote:
