[opensuse-factory] Tumbleweed: add glibc-2.18?
Hello! I'd like to propose adding glibc-2.18 for tumbleweed. AFAICT the version from Base:System / glibc will build fine without any change. https://build.opensuse.org/project/show/home:no_se:branches:openSUSE:Factory... shows the result. Why? To take advantage of most new things would require a rebuild of the whole distro, right?

What about all of the packages that depend on glibc? Have you test built them?

shows the result.
That's the easy part, the hard thing is everything else that happens when a new glibc update happens. Again, what's the big benifit for updating glibc in tumbleweed? thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Nope, some binaries will stop working due to changes in the SUSE-specific libowcrypt. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Right. This was required to make glibc ABI-clean wrt. upstream. The full list of packages that need to be updated along with glibc are pam-modules, yast2-core, yast2-ruby-bindings and whois.
