[opensuse-factory] Upgrade 42.1 to 42.2
Hello, since the google doc is not accessible any more for me here the update of my entry. Upgrade 42.1 to 42.2 Works with the following issues: 1. Monitor cable has to be more tightly fixed than for normal use, else screen remains black. 2. When upgrading from DVD with "language de", rest default: at Progress 97% "Installation des Bootmanagers" this message is shown: Execution of command "" failed. Exit code 1. Error output: Installing for i386-pc platform. File descriptor 4 (dev/sda1) leaked on vgs invokation. Parent PID 26397: /usr/sbin/grub2-install /run/lvm/lvmetad.socket: connect failed: No such file or directory. WARNING: Failed to connect to lvmetad. Falling back to internal scanning. /usr/sbin/grub2-install: Dateisysten ext2 unterstützt keine Einbettungen. /usr/sbin/grub2-install: Fehler: Einbettung ist nicht möglich, jedoch für die Installation mit RAID und LVM erforderlich. Continueing and booting works. 3. Desktop background is reset to default. Hello,

Very interesting, but I'm not sure that classifies as a bug, probably just X or Wayland being more accurate probing the monitor and a loose cable wont help there
2. When upgrading from DVD with "language de", rest default: at Progress 97% "Installation des Bootmanagers" this message is shown: Execution of command "" failed. Exit code 1. Error output: Installing for i386-pc platform. File descriptor 4 (dev/sda1) leaked on vgs invokation. very interesting, please file a bug http://bugs.opensuse.org As its an installation bug, YaST logs will be required - https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Bugreport_YaST
3. Desktop background is reset to default.
Interesting, also please file a bug - you will need to provide more details, such as which desktop environment you are using. Regards, Richard

The upgrade has changed the default browser from Firefox to Konqueror. Thats why google docs does not open. In the KDE-Settings the entry is "firefox". After settiing it to another browser and back to "firefox", "firefox" is really the default browser and with Firefox the google doc can be opened. I first update the google doc and then try to file the bugs. Regards, Thomas

My zypper dup shows over 1000 (one thousand) packages from leap 42.1 to this 42.2 beta1 to be downgraded when adding the single 42.2 oss repo all other repos removed or disabled and going for a zypper ref and zypper dup. Is this possible that the beta1 needs to downgrade one thousand packages? Pretty simple kde 42.1 leap here. Thank you. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

If the version is actually the same and only the build number is lower, then yes, I'd expect this to be normal. Well at the end of the checking for conflicts in zypper dup, it reported tens of file conflicts certain files blocking from one package old to a file from the new to be installed packages. I escaped the zypper dup there and didn't upgrade. It looks too weird to me. The warning read, if to be continued files will be replaced and losing previous content. Is this normal? Is beta1 42.2 rather a huge step backwards in software versions of packages and will only get more current than 42.1 when it actually goes rtm and afterwards? About those build numbers and versions, the most prominent things I remember were that upgrade to beta1 would bring mozilla firefox in again as version 42.0 or 41.0 even and libreoffice at 5.0.something, googlechromium downgrading again to some 47 or so from 51 or even 52 on the 42.1 leap and other stuff. There are lot of libraries that have been getting security fixes in the recent weeks and months. I wonder if beta1 is then actually supposed to be fit for daily use, it looks rather risky and more like a trap if anyone would use these seriously downgraded and outdated versions compared to 42.1. Seems more like a trap to me and users should be warned I guess. And those were only a few package names that I could remember. There are many more things that I can think of such as libraries for openssl openssh and more. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

please have a look at the packages in http://download.opensuse.org/distribution/leap/42.2-Beta1/repo/oss/suse/x86_... You will see that all your claim of outdated packages is not valid: * MozillaFirefox-48.0.1-1.2.x86_64.rpm * libreoffice-5.1.3.2-1.6.x86_64.rpm * chromium-52.0.2743.82-1.9.x86_64.rpm so, please check whether you have the correct repository configuration. You are right why thank you, I had a typo in the repo url address, I readded the 42.1 repo and removed everything else so not even going to 42.2 and the 42.1 update repo was gone as well thus going straight back to 42.1 rtm state ;( Thanks again for making me check my config. Looks better now. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
