[opensuse-factory] Samba4 as DC in 13.2?
Hi Any news from SUSE/openSUSE about the inclusion of a Samba4 DC provision for 13.2? Yast perhaps? We can't code but would throw everything at testing with you. Samba 4 as a system which provides some of the core Microsoft Active Directory Services still or even more relies on the Heimdal Kerberos implementation. While any recent openSUSE and SUSE Linux Enterprise version utilizes the MIT Kerberos implementation. It's possible to build binaries with the in Samba tree included Heimdal. But anybody doing so must be aware to track potential Heimdal security issues at its own. What we can offer are switches in the spec file which makes it possible to use Heimdal while building inside the openSUSE Build Service. Building inside the openSUSE Build Service does not mean getting part of an openSUSE release. By two reasons: a) There isn't such high demand. b) We as the SUSE Samba Maintainers will not maintain such Samba binaries. If people are willing to maintain a set of extra, cloned Samba packages which offers the described feature set as part of an openSUSE release I'm happy to see this too. But be aware maintaining such a package set can be quite time consuming. Thanks, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team + SUSE Labs SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

Samba 4 AD builds, installs and provisions fine with the MIT libraries which come with 13.1 L x -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
