Thanks. Its been a while since I did a manual install - do they integrate with dkms now or do we need to rerun the install after each kernel upgrade. They should integrate with dkms if you call the right flags from the installer and have the right dkms packages installed. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adeliade Australia, UTC+9:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B

Well that went surprisingly smoothly apart from some farting around with blacklisting nouveau. Always forget to run mkinitrd. Thanks All. There on there way back, https://blogs.s-osg.org/implementing-client-side-post-processing-effects-way... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZpEAiBlr00 look out for them maybe in the next enlightenment release with wayland, unfortunately that probably still won't support the nvidia driver. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adeliade Australia, UTC+9:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B

Sorry, maybe I should have said - I'm using KDE/Plasma and I presume(!) X - its had wobbly windows forever, but seems to be missing on Tumbleweed/Plasma 5.6 -- Lindsay -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2279921 might be applicable, kde probably didn't realise you have swapped cards and that it should now use the opengl backend, I could be wrong there though. -- Simon Lees (Simotek) http://simotek.net Emergency Update Team keybase.io/simotek SUSE Linux Adeliade Australia, UTC+9:30 GPG Fingerprint: 5B87 DB9D 88DC F606 E489 CEC5 0922 C246 02F0 014B

That was it, thanks Simon. Bit crap that the render config has been removed from System Settings. -- Lindsay -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Ah, that makes more sense, thanks. How do I shut down X in Tumbleweed? "service sddm stop" does nothing. -- Lindsay -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
Hello Lindsay. The systemd unit is called "display-manager", to shut it down, do: systemctl stop display-manager.service. Regards, Howard On Tue, 12 Apr 2016, Lindsay Mathieson wrote:

systemctl stop [sddm,xdm,kdm,lightdm,...] In case you've not tried it, the modeset driver built into Xorg works pretty will for a lot of gfxchips as an alternative to both nvidia and nouveau, as well as ati and intel, depending on what it is exactly you expect from your graphical environment. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Wobbly windows working fine here. This has nothing to do with Wayland, which is still experimental. -- Gertjan Lettink, a.k.a. Cheers, When dkms is installed, you can use the " --dkms" option from the NV..run installer.
