[opensuse-factory] M6 grub gone: workaround?
Hi, I updated all pkgs to M6 just now.. But no booting. Not able to install a new bootloader. Old 11.1 install could be booted via the 11.1Final DVD, but 11.2 M6 could not. I remember a thread about that trap, but as i donot have those mails on this os, what to do to get 11.2 M6 booting? -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball, aka M9. Try to boot with your 11.2 installation media (I used 11.2 ISO image, mounted on boot by VirtualBox) and use "repair system", it will guide you step by step to solve your boot issue. does it get as far as displaying the grub prompt? I had a boot problem after updating a few days ago due to an empty \boot\grub\menu.lst file - fixed it by booting a live cd and copying menu.lst.old to menu.lst. d. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

No, there were two colourfull pictures, displayed every second. I filed a bug about it. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=535476 I did a netinstall yesterday, and had more luck. Maybe updating all pkgs from M4 > M6 is impossible? -- Enjoy your time around, Oddball (M9.) (Now or never...)
