[opensuse-factory] yauap engine
Hey Group; Why is that SuSE insists on using "yauap" engine to run Amarok? It is defective on KDE3 and KDE4 when bring up Amarok. At that time the volume is just short of full blast. This happens anytime even when Amarok was closed down at 1/4 volume. Amarok-xine did not have this problem and worked correctly. Can someone explain why xine has become something SuSE dislikes. Also does anyone know where to get a version of amarok-xine that works with 11.2 -- 73 de Donn Washburn 307 Savoy Street Email:" n5xwb@windstream.net " Sugar Land, TX 77478 LL# 1.281.242.3256 Ham Callsign N5XWB HAMs : " n5xwb@arrl.net " VoIP via Gizmo: bmw_87kbike / via Skype: n5xwbg BMW MOA #: 4146 - Ambassador " http://counter.li.org " #279316 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

I assume gstreamer was selected as the default engine since it was the only one able to play MP3, through Fluendo plugin. Since that plugin will not be available anymore in the next versions of openSUSE I suppose there is no cause anymore to use gstreamer over xine. No idea about the plans for the default Phonon backend in KDE4... neither sure about the KDE3 availability in openSUSE 11.2. But yes, if kde3-amarok is going to be available in 11.2 it should default to xine. The last time I checked it was way more realiable than yauap (in general, gstreamer support in KDE3 apps is bad). -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
I agree with you on the issue. I will say after using openSuSE and SuSE from way back it was a pleasant find to see Amarok play right out of the box. I would have been overly pleased to find mp3s play correctly but yauap never controlled the volume correctly. I would close Amarok down and the next time it was brought up the volume was near full blast when Amarok showed it as near off (10 to 15%). Xine never had that kind of problem. I always downloaded xine-libs and xine-ui to fix Suse's broken xine MP3 problem. On 05/06/2009 03:46 PM, Cristian Morales Vega wrote:
