[opensuse-factory] umberlog: /usr/lib or /lib
Hello, There is a new package, libumberlog, a library for logging: http://algernon.github.com/libumberlog/ As right now it is mostly used from /etc/ld.so.preload, also during boot, I put it to /lib. Now I got a submitrequest to move it to /usr. In my understanding it's safer to leave it in /lib, as apps could fail if /usr is not available for some reason. Should I still accept the sr? Please accept it, the initrd should take care that /usr is mounted, we're not adding new stuff to /lib anymore. Then here are my next questions, as libumberlog is not just for factory users: - Which openSUSE/SLES releases are affected? I mean, where do I need /lib and where can I safely use /usr/lib? - how to solve this properly at the packaging level? Please accept it, the initrd should take care that /usr is mounted, we're not adding new stuff to /lib anymore. Accepted. As libumberlog is also used on older distro versions, SLES, fedora, RHEL, I made /lib usage now version dependent. I hope, this version looks OK now: https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file?file=libumberlog.spec&package=libumberlog&project=devel%3Alibraries%3Ac_c%2B%2B&rev=dbd8c96ef018e483d56073e994ca64e2 Bye, CzP -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
