[opensuse-factory] RFC: new package: shelldap
Hi all, I would like to propose submitting shelldap from network:utils to Factory. It has two dependencies which are not already in Factory, so they would need adding too: perl-Term-Shell and perl-Digest-MD5. --------- 8< --------- 8< --------- 8< --------- 8< --------- 8< --------- Name: shelldap License: BSD-3-Clause Summary: Shell-like interface to LDAP servers Url: http://projects.martini.nu/shelldap Group: Productivity/Networking/LDAP/Clients Devel-Package: network:ldap Description: Shelldap is a program for interacting with an LDAP server via a shell-like interface. This is not meant to be an exhaustive LDAP editing and browsing interface, but rather an intuitive shell for performing basic LDAP tasks quickly and with minimal effort. --------- 8< --------- 8< --------- 8< --------- 8< --------- 8< --------- This is my first time submitting to Factory, so I thought I'd ask for feedback before sending a submitrequest. Adam, That looks like a useful package to me. perl-digest-MD5 is similar to other things I maintain, so I will do a add-role request for it and then SR it to factory. I see it it is rev level behind in D:L:P, so I'll update if first. FYI: Since opensuse 12.3 is a feature freeze, I don't know if new leaf packages like this can be accepted before March when the freeze is lifted. OK great, thanks!

Ah right, I'm new to this so I missed the deadline this time :-/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org

Please tell this Coolo. As this is a leaf package it's very likely to get it into 12.3. Cheers, Lars -- Lars Müller [ˈlaː(r)z ˈmʏlɐ] Samba Team + SUSE Labs SUSE Linux, Maxfeldstraße 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany

coolo said it would be OK to submit these for 12.3, but I guess we would need to do it pretty soon. I could submitreq perl-Term-Shell - when might you be above to do the above tasks for perl-Digest-MD5? Thanks! Adam I've got the latest version built in a home sub-project of mine: home:gregfreemyer:Tools-for-forensic-boot-cd https://build.opensuse.org/package/show?package=perl-Digest-MD5&project=home%3Agregfreemyer%3ATools-for-forensic-boot-cd It passes "make test". Do you want to test if before I SR the update back to the devel project and then to factory from there. rpm -qf /usr/lib/perl5/*/*linux-thread-multi/Digest/MD5.pm perl-base-5.16.2-1.4.x86_64
is the same thing? Then there is no need to submit perl-Digest-MD5 to Factory. Term-Shell is nice to have in Factory for coding. Ciao Bernhard M.
Adam, Per http://perldoc.perl.org/index-modules-D.html perl(Digest::MD5) is indeed a core module so it should not be in factory as a standalone. All, why do we maintain perl core modules as standalone modules in D:L:P in the first place? I find it confusing and in this case the version in D:L:P is a few releases behind so it seems it should be deleted.
