[opensuse-factory] running factory?
Hello, I would like to test Factory asap, to avoid the present untested multimedia status of many apps, but I don't find how to do :-( http://software.opensuse.org/developer?lang=fr send to and from there I don't really see how. I suppose I can start from an 11.4 install and change the repositories to factory, but do I have to remove all the 11.4 repos and add what exactly? this one? http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/ thanks jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Yes, either you switch to the repos below that path or you do a new install using an ISO from http://download.opensuse.org/factory/iso/ -- Guido Berhoerster -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

Better to start fresh rather than starting with 11.4. http://download.opensuse.org/factory/repo/oss/boot/ in each arch's loader/ has the installation linux and initrd. I download them to a /boot partition, and start HTTP installation using Grub with a stanza akin to http://fm.no-ip.com/Tmp/SUSE/menu.lst-startFACTORYinstallation.txt and customized according to http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Linuxrc to minimize installation initialization time. If that's too much trouble, burn a *NET*.iso and type all the same things on every new install started from CD. :-p -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." Earlier this week I wanted to use a new 1.5G HD to replace a smaller capacity drive. I used the 11.4 DVD to do a fresh install, then changed the repos to factory and updated using zypper. I've copied /home, all the apps and other files I need over from the old HD. No problem. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ... Be careful with testing multimedia, (I've just discuss about that with yaloki on irc) There's pretty much no application for high level (as you mainly do jdd) in Essential which is the only one repo available for Factory on packman. But there's also all the others on OBS which will love to have love :-) I'm using factory from pretty much one year now. If it works at 90%, 90% of the time. It can break, and being frustrating some days... -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member & Ambassador GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org

yes, I beg this. But I noticed some apps on 11.4 don't even loas, so they where not tested at all. The packager can't obviously test all. So I want to help, as this is a part I know a bit and use. Most problems are easy to fix when reported.
But there's also all the others on OBS which will love to have love
sure. My idea is to start from the multimedia pattern at first without packman, then with it.
:-)

well often it don't even start, so difficult to use. I will try first on VirtualBox and I will open a page on my own wiki to report jdd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
