[opensuse-factory] vboxguest: exports duplicate symbol RTMemExecFree (owned by vboxdrv)

Hi all! I am prepared new vbox-ose 3.1.0 package in Virtualization://VirtualBox repo, but during test phase on my notebook I encounter issues while loading vboxnetadp and vboxnetflt kernel modules (both depends on vboxdrv module and are used on host side for network features): modprobe vboxnetadp modprobe vboxnetflt gives me (from /var/log/messages) : "vboxguest: exports duplicate symbol RTMemExecFree(owned by vboxdrv)" however using insmod modules are loaded properly: insmod /lib/modules/2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop/updates/vboxnetadp.ko strange is that I encounter issues on my notebook but on my work pc (same installation openSUSE-11.2) everything works fine ... I am not sure where could by the problem but I found diff on not working system in /lib/modules/2.6.31.5-0.10-desktop/modules.dep I suppose IF vboxnetadp and vboxnetflt depends on vboxdrv, listed modules.dep is not correctly generated : ... updates/vboxnetadp.ko updates/vboxguest.ko <----- updates/vboxdrv.ko: updates/vboxvideo.ko: kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/drm.ko updates/vboxvfs.ko: updates/vboxguest.ko updates/vboxnetflt.ko: updates/vboxguest.ko updates/vboxdrv.ko <----- updates/vboxguest.ko: ... modules.dep from PC where modules are loaded properly looks different : updates/vboxguest.ko: updates/vboxdrv.ko: updates/vboxnetadp.ko: updates/vboxdrv.ko updates/vboxnetflt.ko: updates/vboxdrv.ko updates/vboxvfs.ko: updates/vboxdrv.ko updates/vboxguest.ko updates/vboxvideo.ko: kernel/drivers/gpu/drm/drm.ko I am wondering why is modules.dep different, should be same on my notebook and also on my PC (I have 11.2 installed on both). It's really annoying having mountains of whitespace on the sides while less than 100% of relevant content is visible and much is hard to read pale gray instead of black. Example: on the last link, all but the shortest package URLs for individual results is truncated, visible only on the browser's status bar if the page's JS is disallowed from changing status bar content. Example 2: http://software.opensuse.org/ redirects to http://software.opensuse.org/112/en and provides no apparent means to find earlier releases (containing KDE3). Example 3: http://software.opensuse.org/search/search (and cmdline webpin) produce no results for mc-4.7 while 4.7.0-pre4 is the latest release and AFAICT I need at least 4.7.0-pre3 to get the fix for http://www.midnight-commander.org/ticket/1619 -- " We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion." The KDE setup, which allows you to turn off a touchpad or mouse, DOESN'T work. Synaptiks does.....thankfully! [opensuse-factory] documenting new behaviors

Hello, The recent threads makes me think Linux is changing very fast and very much (kde3->kde4, new automatic X without SaX2...). This is probably a good thing. However I think it's not enough documented. It's now time to enhance this, as we are to start a new distro (11.3??) any group having to change heavbily shoyld warn the user early and eventually ask for help to document the change. For example, sax2, of better said X. when the change was done from XFree to xorg, I dont really remamber warnings, but there where little changes. It was still possible to add some modelines on displays not working as default. now xorg.conf is completely desapearing, so what can we do in case of problem. An experienced Linux user (as I am, being SuSE from more than 10 years now), unable to make a box work in front of a new user is a very bad advertisement. so we should have a "migration white note", describing what the old tools did that is no more usefull and what can be done now and this is better done with a simple script with the old tool name displaying this doc *inside the new distro*, because this come often when one have no network. other ewample: In kde3 you had stick icons (icons the same in all desktop), to have this in kde4 do... mkinitrd has a problem. And zypper can not resolve it. Running 11.1 with KDE4.3.4 and on another box 11.2 with KDE4.3.3 KDE4 audiokonverter bombs out after failing to open a terminal. I'm not sure where to look for error messages or whether this might be a know issue, gateful for advice as to how to proceed..
