Done - that was installed yesterday...

And that does not work.... Can't find tftp host... Why is it looking for a host called tftp? Lets check the docs... nope nothing in there.....

Can't find tftp host...
Why is it looking for a host called tftp?
Lets check the docs... nope nothing in there.....
It looks for tftp server, if it cant find, it take dhcpd server as a tftp server and continues from there. Check the firewall on the LTSP server. Chect /etc/xinet.d/tftpd, it should be pointing to /srv/tftpboot. DHCP, TFTP and LTSP servers should be running on one server, and there should not be any other dhcpd running in the network. it is trying to ping tftp - but it can't resolv it, and i don't know why as everything else can. "can assign SERVER IP/name rebooting" - It then craps up and after 120 sec it resets, been doing that for a while now. Any way to pass that info in through grub?
Check the firewall on the LTSP server. Chect /etc/xinet.d/tftpd, it should be pointing to /srv/tftpboot.
yep - thats all fine, turned all security off to see if that did anything... Will need a list of port at some point for the firewalls.
DHCP, TFTP and LTSP servers should be running on one server, and there should not be any other dhcpd running in the network.
which it is. Test env is the ltsp and a box on a network on its own - no joy Real env there going to be a DHCP out of our control, thats why I want to use something like grub netboot or usb etc... Off to lunch.

Prebuilt are working - box is happily erroring out on the fact it can't find tftp host - ping tftp from a real box and it finds it. usb - boots, then dies saying it can't find a usb drive. What like the one you just booted from???? Also why does the prebuilt images stop working when you make a usb image? Do i need to have multiply boxes running ltsp for each type of install? the dhcpd config borks horribly with a random error - can't get it to work at all so using dnsmasq, and fun that is to... Really felling the easiness of this all

This seems to be one of your issues(misconfigured dnsmasq), we use dhcpd, let us know the errors you get so we can try to fix it. Also paste output of ifconfig, cat /etc/dhcpd.conf and /etc/sysconfig/dhcpd, to debug it. Things like "random errors", "not working" really does not help pin point the real cause :) Cheers -J -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-edu+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-edu+help@opensuse.org

it can't find /var/lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-eth0.info
So the ltsp client does not get dhcp settings, and therefor can't resolv

What I suggest is get dhcpd working, or try another machine or a fresh install on the same server where it works as intended and do a Quickstart setup there. If the networking is right, and dhcpd works, all the rest of the setup should work as advertised. If the dhcpd does not work even on fresh install you can file bug against it on bugzilla as there is nothing kiwi-ltsp can do about it.
